I think it was originally invented as a reason to drink whiskey by Scots.

I’ve got a friend in MN who is obsessed with curling. She’s gone most weekends to matches all over the state; they’re basically drinking parties on ice.

OK you bastards. I should put this in the confessional thread however....

I curled in high school (you had too it's Canada), and I was a skip, and my team won a bonspiel.
It is a whiskey drinking party on ice. There, I've said it AND I feel dirty. Nice to get it off my chest though.

It's still dumbass, however there are worse things for your kid to be interested in wyeaster haha. (like darts...)

Fuck yeah! I’ve done a couple of curling sessions in my life and it is really fun. Going to a “Learn to Curl” class next week with my wife too.

Haven’t read all 38 pages but I feel like I’ve watched a good deal of the Winter Olympics and outside of speed skating and figure skating don’t the crowds seem extremely light? Also, weird to see the mountain events have almost no snow except for on the run of the actual event. Never been there but doesn’t appear South Korea is the epicenter of winter sports.

Atta girl!!! Great start for team USA

Semi finals. Winner goes to the gold medal game. Need a solid 60 minutes here - skate hard, win puck battles, and put shots on net.. Looking good through the first 5

wish this game wasnt on so late! what can you do - US men facing elimination tomorrow night at the same time, so its gonna be a low sleep week I guess. Oh well

The ladies in ice dancing are all quite fetching. That's about the sum of my interest in that sport.

Still kinda stunned that the women in big air barely make it past the first blue line. I honestly don't get the vast difference between women and men in park/pipe/air. It can't be the weight, most of those dudes are tiny. Ooooh - she did a 720 flat spin. Really? There are fat dentists on here that could do that off of that jump.

Anyone else catch the figure skater showing the world her nipple?

Thanks to CBC for the slow motion zoom in replay. They really do have the best coverage.

I wanted to punch that announcer after the 93rd time he said something about how PROGRESSIVE this years women are and how much PROGRESSION the women have made this year. guy couldnt shut the fuck up about it. Meanwhile, I was wondering that exact same thing. I have shlep friends who can do 720s off jumps 1/2 that size. Olympic men are doing triple flip 1440s?!?
