Wow! Mikaela charged that last run. Amazing.

Great hockey game too. Hoping for a rematch for gold.

Sick! I'm sure she's happy to get that out of the way, letting her relax for SL and (hoping) all the events.

When I saw her balanced off that bump it was like yeahhhhh. Here she goes.

Agreed. I saw how easy she made that look and knew she was dialed in for that run.

Aim for the chopping block. If you aim for the wood, you will have nothing. Aim past the wood, aim through the wood.

Reverse 2nd for the top 30 is the norm.

    Mikaela for the Gold!
Came in 5th in the GS at Sochi. Gold here. Unbelievable. And yes, she attacked that second run, hit that top section well without skidding around those tough turns, and would've won by more except for that little hiccup at the bottom.
Sobbing when she realized she had won. The pressure, the relief.
Congratulations to her. Now on to the Slalom tomorrow.

I was watching the men's hockey game vs slovenia. The players are fine but the lack of practice as a team showed.
We need Doc and we get Pierre. Sad.

I was wondering about how these teams would gel.

I haven't watched any men's hockey yet, but from watching the CAN vs USA Women's game I am guessing the women's series is gonna be more interesting.

The Canadian and US women are on a different level than the rest of the field.

She said after her Sochi she wanted to be much improved in the GS discipline and so her last 4 years have been working on that improvement as well as maintaining her top Slalom skills...

i really liked the scrappy play: energetic, contesting the puck & generally getting after it
that is the fun in hockey without the thuggish targetings that are part of the nhl

Anyone have a link to the GS finals replay so I don't have to search for an hour?

That and the international width rink.

US could have played a little more dump and chase; I guess they were picked to be fast, not big, so maybe that dictates the style of play. Still Pierre didn't need to say it quite so many times.

Wow. Just discovered CBC Canada on demand Olympics coverage. Every sport, full coverage. If you can get it, do it. NBC wishes they could do sports like this
