WTB: Quiver of one

- 180-185 cm
- ~110 mm waist
- 20-25 m radius
- Moderate tip/tail rocker and 5-pt sidecut
- Med/stiff flex

You are pretty much exactly describing my custom ON3P skinny goats (aka Steeple 108 with Billy Goat layup). 184cm, 108 waist, 28 radius (but with RES sidecut they turn quickly so that's misleading), pintail design, more tip rocker than tail, med / stiff flex. This is my do it all ski. It's not going to be as good on groomers as, say, a Cochise, but if you're just cruising around with your kid they're fine for that and they're way better in powder and tight trees.

I would throw out the argument for 2 pair.

I used my 177 protostellars w the kids until this years fun on groomed, enough early rise and width to ski of piste within reason for a couple runs or next to the runs.

No substitute for shortness in the tight trees or terrain parks etc.

Keep the big skis for dad only days.

Salomon QST 106 or K2 Pinnacle 105. If you a serious about ease of skiing with a repsectable top end. Not full on chargers but both are very capable for all around duty.

I bet that you can find a pair of new two/three year old Mantras for a couple hundred. Otherwise, the 1st generation Cochise with metal seems to fit your bill. Kastle BMX 108 should also be worth consideration.

I'd go for something thats an energetic carver with decent tip rocker and 95-109ish underfoot. Something like the Enforcer or Ranger or Supernatural or MAYBE Chams (the only <110 skis I haven't skied that have been mentioned). They have enough punch and liveliness on boring terrain (groomers) and mellow tight terrain to make them fun. Almost all other skis mentioned so far are not gonna be as fun (K2 Pinnacles, Salomon QSTs, Cochises, Icelantics, BMX 105/108, Devestators, the 110+s), though some will be less hooky (QSTs) and better when charging hard (Cochise/Devestator).

There is a pair of them (S6s), 186 w/ jesters on my local CL for $300 in good nick. Not sure when I could facilitate in the next couple weeks but there are lots of local mags who might be able to help.

He sold them yesterday afternoon before I left work, which is OK because he sent me more pics of the bases and they were hammered. The ones doebedoe found of Denver CL are a great deal, but likely too much hassle.

OP -- PM me if you're interested. I was planning on keeping them as my "rock powder skis" but that seems a bit silly. I don't currently have brakes for them but STH brakes are pretty easy to find. Pretty cheap -- especially if you don't want the bindings.

I can't resist. The new Mantra would be perfect. It is still a missile, but capable of scrambling in tight spots with way more float than old versions.

Cham 107 2.0 is my slot for this. Can rip alpental bumps, mission ridge groomers and stevens pass trees, plus cruise with the wife at all 3.

+1 on the Cham 107s though I would opt for the 97s if buying again.

Thoughts on the 4FRNT Cody? Local guy has some 186s for sale cheap.

Anyone sitting on some 184 Mantras (2015-present rockered versions)?

I have the Cody and it's a great ski. Super easy to ski can actually charge which surprised me with the softish tip but it stiffens nicely under foot. It floats pretty well, no pure pow ski, but does real well in anything up to a foot. I have better skis for pow days though. It's not turny despite the short radius, it will go straight and make big turns at speed just fine.
I mainly break them out when conditions are not great and I need to dial the speed down and turn more. They can carve like a mofo as well. They have nice pop to them, super playful.
I'm 5,10 190lbs 306bsl mounted -1cm.
