Best glue for complete sole separation?
Got a pair of leather tele boots with complete sole separation and want to bring em back to life. Got em cheap from someone who didn't want to bother fixing the soles.

Prolly ask vibram? Its more about surface prep, clean and appropriately abraded, than the perfect glue. An RTV like shoe goo might do it. Call a cobbler eh?

Have a cobbler do it. They have really strong contact type adhesive. Probably not worth it to source yourself for the small amount you would need.
Is that a Merrel XCD? Nice boot for meadow skipping.

If you're determined to do it yourself, use Barge Cement. Clamping the shit out of it will be the crucial (and probably difficult) move.

Unless you can provide positive full-length and -width clamping, you may face failure.

yeah another thread somewhere talk about barge cement being better than shoe goo for actual adhesion rather that space filling- and see http://www.thistothat.com/cgi-bin/gl...r&that=Leather
for clamping- maybe do half at a time and put the boot under a car tire?

I think there is one cobbler left in the area in Winooski so I'll give home a try.
And yes--nice boots for the Catamount trail. Still love getting on the leathers and shwackin' through the VT woods in search of moose gladed powder turns...

Some C Peds and those building custom shoes have a sole press. Cement alone, no mater the type will likely fix it. A sole press uses intense pressure w/ adhesives to do the trick.

You can also ship to a cobbler if you want. There are a number that resole climbing shoes and hiking boots like Rocky Mountain Resole and The Rubber Room who would have a sole press that you would need to do a good job.

Had a similar problem recently, $20 to have my local cobbler fix it. Well worth it.

Send it back to FlyLow and ask them why they won't warranty it.
