He keeps his clubs way too clean. How the hell does he expect his pitching wedge to release when his grooves aren't encased with mud and grass?

2 chunks, 2 turbo putts, 2 fanned irons, an f-bomb and a few clubs slammed in anger. Overall really good off tee and fairways. Tiger -2 after 11.

Asked for a little too much on that par 5 drive to the scruff. Ultimately a good thing because it shows his swing is comfortable.

This is an easy course for these guys. I expect some of the stars to really step on the gas this weekend.

Looked good...stoked for Tiger. Wonder what gal he’s hanging out with these days? With his history and the current climate he must think twice about celebrating a nice round by banging a few models....or a Waffle House server.

He still looks "torquey" through the ball. Almost abrupt power at the end. I envision a much smoother "lazy" swing unless he wants more back problems. Seems more tame but still looks overly stressful. Think Ernie els or Vijay.

Agree but the modern game is long ball. DJ, Day, JT, Koepka.

Agree with you there as well, but look at a dude like Bernard Langer. Never long but a good competitor. Course he is small that's mostly why he's not long. You adjust your game, or try, to compensate for age/injury. Maybe finessing a 5 iron in instead of a 7 from a little further behind the young guys? I just hope that aggressive movement through the ball doesn't fuck him up again.

Thanks for the update guys! i used to play second-fiddle thru hi-school to a buddy who had the purist talent I have seen in person. He and Tiger played in a couple Texas AJGA events (now it is mJGA, 'merica Junior Golf Association). Afterwards, he would only talk about T's short game. It was the first time I recall hearing, "he could get it up and down out of a trashcan." My friend never played with Tiger, just encountered him at the practice facilities.

I am hoping for some crafty over-40 gamesmenship out of T. He has 4+ years to win 4 majors before 46. Don't call it a comeback.

In the big leagues, it's only cheating if you get caught. Did I miss something?

He sank some monsters today too especially for a guy who hasn't really putt under pressure in a long while.

Tiger looks different. I was not a believer previously... he would be walking up the fairway with a grimace on his face like he was in pain and didn't even know it. This looks different.

I hope so. It would be fun for sure.
