Pretty serious mob at Stump too, and 14 was longer than I've ever seen it. Close to 17,000 on Sat.

Makes me feel better about the Rose lines the last 2 days with Slide lift down.
Still waiting on the right timing for my MC passes at Mammy.

It was a perfect storm of crowds here. The photo below is the end of the gondola line at main on Saturday. 23 was shut down until midday today, which meant there was only one way to the top. Rode up one time with Rusty who said a cable had wrapped around one of the chairs in the storm. After two laps I gave up and just skied with the kids. No line at roller coaster! I also heard a rumor that they stopped letting more cars into town for a while today.
Just ring the fucking bell, you pansy.

EC mag here, in Vegas for work. First time in the area. Wife and baby are coming down tuesday night and we've got a van rented to roadtrip for 10 days. The plan was to head to the coast for surf but with news of all this snow and with a refresh coming... I packed my boots.
Best place to ski thursday / friday, renting skis? Maybe splitting a ticket with the wife and taking turns in the chalet with the baby. Or daycare if not too pricey, baby is 11 months. In short, looking for: good place to rent skis, good place to ski (mammoth? tahoe? someplace cheaper?) and someplace to park the van. it's a conversion from https://www.escapecampervans.com/. I see mammoth lakes has an RV park. any info is appreciated. willing to spend a few hundred for some good skiing

Make sure you have chains. Assuming you'be surfing in So Cal, Mammoth is a hours closer. The RV park is nice with hook ups, indor pool and jacuzzi. The Ski Renter is close to the RV park. Start your day at the Eagle Lodge parking lot for the easiest drive. Get the early for a good spot.

Happy Martin Luther King day to you all! Mammoth is under clear blue skies for at least one more day. The crowds have left and the skiing and snow boarding are a ton of fun.
More snow on the way Thursday into next Monday. At this time the outlook is calling for 4-6 feet of additional snow over the 5 day period as 3 storm systems move thru the area.
Snowman is healed up and back on the hill Sunday - Friday... look for the red hat and give me a shout out, I got Free Stickers and would love to me you. Snowman Out.

It's closed. That line is very very rare to be skiable.

Noids laps were taking me close to an hour on Saturday. That's what happens when 23 is closed.

Skied today with my old roomie from back in the day until about 2:30. After a insane weekend, it was back to more typical mid-week Mammoth with no lift lines longer than 1-2 minutes. Did a little of everything from CL over to Ch 15 over to Ch 14 and back. Groomers were good all over and with the lack of crowds you could open it up for a change. Skiing off the top is just ok. Coverage is great, but the snow is kind of chunky and funky. It could definitely use some favorable winds or a reset, which is in the forecast. We did hangers once, which was really wide. Then headed off the top past Dave's to the top of Dragons back and dropped into one of the head chutes. Not super great, but different as neither of us had done them in a few years. We finished on Ch 22 skiing avi 2 from the top. Never seen bumps that big in it above the choke. A sign of how much traffic has been thru there in the last five days.
Had to get a pic of the sign at the top. Normal height is 18 ft. Howard says with another 20" that this will be the biggest January on record. I'm sure most of you have seen this video for Ch 22 on Thursday, but I'll throw up the link just in case you haven't. One of the best days, if not the best pow session I've ever had at Mammoth.

Listen to it with the volume cranked up loud so you can hear the stoke. Great accompaning articles with it from Powder Mag web page, especially the one "Chasing the Storm to Mammoth" by Sierra Davis. She did a great job of summing up what that day was like. Ignore the comments afterwards. Lots of angry haters, bitter that they weren't out there.
P.S. Line on 22-less than 10 minutes with fresh tracks all day.

A repeat of last Thursday's 22 sessions tomorrow? Winds in the 30's with 11-17 forecasted tonight. I wonder how the snow density will be
