Evaluating where we might drive to in W US for week of Thanksgiving for some turns.

Maybe if I finish a blog about closing weekend, the forecast models will change?

OpenSnow just changed from "believe in 11|11", to "nothing for 10 days", so there is that...
Just being cold would at least help with snowmaking.
    Not even that.

hey that was me that said believe in 11|11 I can tell because you copied the | in the middle. Too bad the cold snap about to hit tahoe doesn't seem to translate to down here. Hopefully it will at least be enough to wipe out any inversions. I plan to make some turns there Friday and then just climb the next two days.

ruh roh. maybe i'm not skiing there friday
Our incredible snowmaking team has been doing everything in their power to get the 18/19 season started, but warm temperatures this week slowed our progress. We are delaying Thursday's Opening Day (NOV 8) until we're confident we have enough snow to get open and stay open. The crew is taking advantage of every single opportunity to make snow, so stay tuned for updates as we continue to evaluate day-by-day. Colder temps are in the forecast and we'll get this party started soon!

In case you’re wondering if it’s a shitshow. They’re dangerously close to surrounding me in the Stump Alley lot

Yep, purposely nixed skiing today due to the white strip of death.

May give it a shot tomorrow after the crazies sleep off the hangover.

It looks like a bunch are hitting up the dirt/snow half pipe on lookers left.

Yep. Saw Dookie post it in the Tahoe thread and liked it.
And yeah the TPOD was just above the 1/2 pipe feature (it was more of a 1/4 pipe on the edge with jumps coming back onto the ribbon)

Pretty good first day out! The snow was quite good.

Legs were done after 3 hours. It's gonna be a long road back to 43,000/day vertical.

Everyday counts for getting stronger, and this day was Grrreat! Just feels good to ski again!

Someone please start a new thread for 18/19. 16/17 just doesn't cut it, and I'm not there enough these past seasons to start one myself.

I would start it once the snow flies, but I am weird that way. I sure hope my Lhasa Fat purchase didn't jinx us.

Ted Schlaepfer CCM —- Mammoth Mountain WeatherGuy

    Forecast Summary:

Mostly sunny weather is expected the rest of this week with passing high clouds at times. Temperatures will get a little warmer into Thursday before cooling off by next weekend.

The dry weather should last into early next week before there is a chance for snowfall by the middle part of next week. Snowfall chances could then continue at times rest of month and into December.

    Time to wash my car.
