Had my first day at Solitude on Sunday - damn, Honeycomb is fun with 18" of snow. Spent the day lapping that traverse. Great snow and amazing how uncrowded that place is. Good times.

According to UAC this morning a solo skier took a ride into some trees, was injured, and had to be evacuated. Yikes.

That's funny. I was there on Saturday and couldn't believe how quickly everything got tracked out. Granted, it took until 10:30-11 to open the gates to Summit, and then Summit chair shortly after that, and noon-ish to open 1-2 Honeycomb gates (the rest didn't open to my knowledge). Maybe I was wrong to expect Powder Mtn in BCC, but it sure beat the 7 tram wait and icing issues I heard about at the Bird.

UDOT will be testing some cornices in the mid canyon tomorrow afternoon.
With that, there is a Backcountry closure going into effect tomorrow morning at 0800 and running to 1600. North side of Little Cottonwood Canyon, Lisa Falls through Monte Cristo will be closed (no overlap (1000m) into BCC for this closure). Expect a highway closure between gates B and C from 3:30 to 4:15.

    Thanks,

    Brad

Yesterday thought we would try superior but it looked like shit so we bopped over to Toledo to do a Days and chutes had warmed and puked the previous day.

My splitboarder friend threw a bitchfit and decided not to summitt toledo bowl about 3 kickturns below and ride death plate satan snow back to Alta. Wouldnt wait for whatever corn cycle to cook off. I threw snowballs at him from the summit. A marine should never concede the high ground

I realized my hippy sandals were in his truck so my plans of days fork pow were dashed and boilerskidding commenced. At least I got a scenic.

Today I took Masshole Mike and his masshole friends sidecountry at brighton and did some laps off pioneer and found a little sneak that had no tracks on the advice of a friendly patroller. Those are our tracks from previous.

    Dont worry it goes

Had some friends touring in the Rocky Pt area yesterday. They said some dude kick off a cornice on top of them (accidentally) on his way up to Sunset. He did a ski cut, ripped out a slide 80+ ft wide, over a foot deep, and it ran almost full track. He was solo, kinda scared, and immediately had 3 guys drop on top of him as he was trying to yell to them to not drop. Scary stuff.

Edit to add: found his insta. First three posts are about the same slide.

Skied emma ridgez above alta yesterday. Talked to a guy who said him and his partner kicked of a good size slide in davenport chute. Instabilities were there for sure... not a great bond with storm snow and the crust underneath as well as numerous slabs making routefinding interesting. We stuck to S facing and it was good turns up hi but pretty heavy near the trailhead.

i found a pair of ski poles at a little cottonwood trailhead last week. Forgot I had them, but if you or anyone you know lost poles last week hit me up with pole make/model and where/when you lost them and they're yours.

    Nope. No one is around.

Also, on the other hand, looks like this week is going to be great. Bird was skiing fantastic today, was expecting conditions to be real firm but everything was nice soft and wind blown. The last 100' at the bottom of peruvian were nasty, and pretty much everything below mid-gad, but otherwise it was a fantastic. Not certain if little cloud ever opened because the winds, but I presume skiing off the cirque would have been nice and creamy too.

Everyone should have fun getting at it for the storm skiing next few days.
