    Zwift, TR, Sufferfest etc

"A One-Legged Rider" on Zwift (recovering from patellar tendon surgery, doing most of the riding with one leg)

Just followed a few of you. I ride basically every morning, but pretty early (5ish weekdays, 6ish weekends). G. P. and I already follow each other. Next week I'll be able to hammer with both legs and maybe finally get my FTP back up where it should be.

Get the Zwift companion app for your phone if you don't have it. Makes following people, etc.

I have been followed and followed back about 10 of you in the last two days. No idea really who is who though.

Tried my first ride today with a Pace Partner. Shit is pretty wild. I with it increased XP and not just drops. Still cool though. Definitely wasn't ready to just go from zero up to 200+ watts though. I like the idea of pedaling around to get warmed up and then pulling a u-turn when the blob passes by and you are warmed up.

Just finished a race in the B group, but was in the mix with some C riders at points. Was wild to see so much sandbagging in that class. The top 10 C guys all held B power for the entire 2+ hour race. Is that normal? I legit don’t get the appeal of putting yourself in a lower class. Couldn’t Zwift just classify everyone at the finish based on their actual power? If I was a C ride rider I’d have been kind of annoyed...for like 2 minutes then I’d just go about my day and not really worry about fake internet bike races.

Everyone wants to dominate. Sounds like city league softball. I’m surprised Zwift doesn’t have some kind of anti-sandbagging metrics.

I did a couple races and have a Zwift power acct, but since I am on a "dumb" trainer it never counted my results.

That being said, reccos on smart trainers that aren't super spendy? Used market seems non-existent right now.

Inventory is tough right now. I’ve been waiting on a Wahoo for 8+ weeks. I’m seeing them just get back in stock at the big retailers like REI, so hopefully my local bike shop will receive his ordered units soon.

Would be nice to get this and make some of it up in dividend later on.

I know nothing about these. I can use the cassette already on my 2x10 bike?

Feel lucky to have scored the Tacx Neo2T last December from Backcountry for $1100 shipped. No one knew the world was about to be on lockdown. At one point last April there was 25,000-3O,OOO people riding during peak times. I’m sure those numbers will be reached again shortly.
Let’s Ride! Maybe try an after party type of group ride, a few laps on flatish stuff with a hill finish. We can ride as a blob for a while and then throw down on the climb. Picture the Leith Hill after party course or Volcano Flat after party that finishes at the top of the volcano. That might be a good one to start with actually. Do a bunch of laps on the flat and smash it to the top and finish at the top finishing arch.

    Each lap is:
    8.8km (5.4m) distance
    77m (255ft) climbing
    sub 15:00 minutes/lap at 2.0-2.5w/kg

We can do 2.5 laps as a bunch, and hit the climb 4km (2.5m) from the finish and go for it from there.
    26.4km (16.4m) totals, under 45 minutes.
