I may join but legs are screaming from my second time up the alp yesterday (73 min)

(clarification: 2nd time ever - not 2nd time in one day)

Who do I follow in zwift to get on this train?

I think I'm out tonight. I'd like to say it's because I have a zoom meeting or because I'm gonna be getting drunk, but the reality is...

Well, actually both of those things are true.

Oh shit I forgot this is the “east coast” time zone ride - I’m not close to being in a state to ride. Will keep that in mind for next week.

    Thanks for the invite!

Same here. This one was definitely more fast-paced than last Thursday’s. Felt good to push it a bit. Dee you are getting stronger!

Man I’m missing Thursday. I did stage 3 of the tdz this morning and it was a bitch. I missed stage 2 so need to make it up (thought it went to tomorrow) but crap...the alp is not easy.

The Tour de Zwift has been great so far. I don’t have the VenTop badge, so I think I I’ll do that one Saturday morning.
I can put on Premier League on the TV and slug out a 2:00+ hr ride.
I sorted all the TdZ stages and if I don’t have the route badge in the A or B group I’ll ride that one, and if I have all the badges for that upcoming stage I’ll race/aggressively ride the C group. I can usually find a group in the C category that makes me feel uncomfortable fir 45mins.

The ven top might be out of my league. I’ll be curious to hear how it goes.

My Alp du Zwift is 1:35:00 or Road to Sky 1:45:00, so I think my time should be 2:20:00 ish for Ven Top.

It's something. I'll tell you that much. I distinctly remember thinking I wish I were drunk like EWG instead.

That should be right, easily faster if you want to push yourself. I looked at my Ventoux time, 2:21 to the top, 2:45 total ride (coasted down for mileage), avg watts of 167. So I'd guess I was 190ish for the climb.

I need a TdZ tutorial. I signed up, had every intention of riding the stages, but when I see 600 people signed up I just bail. Riding with that many avatars is a shit show. Am I missing something? Are these races?

Turning trainer difficulty down a bit helps on those big climbs. First time I did adz I had it at 100% and while I am ok with that, I was really annoyed by the grade changes. You don't really see them on the screen but you go around a corner or hit a flatter spot and you spin out and power drops. Turning the difficulty down smooths that out and also lets you put out a higher cadence and a little lower power if you want. The 50% default feels better to me, and going even lower means you can spin faster at a lower power up those huge climbs instead of having to stand up and mash and suffer. And, well, it's a video game in your basement and it's winter you don't need to make it that hard if you don't want.

In other zwift related news, last race of the local series tonight. We kind of got our team working a little better, which mostly just meant Ivan, the fast junior cx racer, didn't have any trainer dropouts and I managed to hang onto his and another kid's wheel up leith hill. It was real hard. I set my best power for the last 6 weeks from like 6 to 40min.
