EU Mags: Innsbruck to Vienna---maybe even to Budapest Road Trip

So there are over 300 ski areas in Austria and shit---this is confusing.

If you were gonna go from Innsbruck and head east toward Vienna (that general direction anyway), where would you go to break up the trip? We're willing to move every day, though a couple days in one spot would be nice. Any route suggestions for two dudes and a rental car that probably is worth shit in snow?

Open to Austria trip plan suggestions. slate is clean at the moment.

    Was thinking:
    Innsbruck resorts - 2 days
    Kitzbuhel - 2 days

What else? I'm so American I don't know what else to consider.

Your first time I figure. Hit up St Anton, it's massive. Tons of off piste possibilities. You're spot on with Kitz. Ski this place right out of Innsbruck.

You may need to let it heat up a bit depending on the time of year. Otherwise, there are an infinite # of options. How many days you thinking? Budget? There are tons of smaller hills with no crowds and awesome vibe. As always, everything is snow dependent. If you can, book last minute when you see where it's dumping.

First time in the winter, yes. Been to Innsbruck about 6 years ago, and was in Garmisch last April for work. Have also been to Engelberg but trying to keep it a little simpler. We are trying to keep it reasonably budgeted, about 8 days or so...so not a super long trip. I'm thinking St Anton, Kitz, and Innsbruck would make 8 days go by pretty quick.

Driving ok in Winter? Thinking Late Jan or early Feb.

impossible. since our horse carriage paths are not cleaned and the alps are very sparsely populated it is near impossible to get anywhere.
