It's 3k vert of very to fairly steep approach, so 3+ hours, a killer ski down into a basin that is the stunt double for Mordor (20 minutes) and then a significant climb and ski out (another 2 hours?)

Baker was a ghost town with lots of smooth chalky runs and perfect sized bumps.

(Anyone else looking to tour tomorrow but in need of a partner? 206 proximate, happy to do 4-6k, even have one of them thar avalanche pagers. PM me.)

The skiing was also acceptable, but we didn't stop for photos.

it really is hard to beat the the sound of a crinkly glide over multifaceted dendrites

or the pleasure of pillaging pillow popping paradise

perfectly spaced old growth is also a contender

yeah this doesn't happen that often in the PNW

Hey all, I built a cool little web page with all the local live ski web cams on a single page. Clicking each one will take you to the respective mountains conditions page. Check it out http://pnsamasters.org/ski-area-webcams

SNOW IN THE PNW 2016-17: Return of the Shred-i

I'll be in AK from the 21st to the 2nd. Got lots of touring partners so the goods will be found. Pretty sketchy thin faceted snowpack right now though.
But Ellen kicks ass - if she had a beard it would be much more haggard. -Jer

Where's that? Looks awesome! Trying to decide where to head tomorrow, conflicting reports of a snow level that may rise to 5k Ft. doesnt help much....

Lethal mixture of surface hoar and reactive wind slab over nearly zero density snow observed yesterday.... incoming heavy snowfall rising freezing levels, strengthening winds.

    Sounds a great idea.

What a great week to go for a walk. Love it when Utah presents itself in the PNDub.

Windy as hell this morning at Mission but great skiing. Ghost town fortunately with chair 2, and chair 4 intermittently, closed for wind. 3-4" of new by 10 and boot top to knee deep in collection zones. Buttery wind buff everywhere else with a few spots scoured down to hard groomed surfaces. We need this and hope tonight's event is even bigger with more wind. Should have everything in the permit area open by Wednesday I think. Shaping up for a nice holiday stretch.

I went for a walk up to Kendall Knob today. This storm has done a number on the snow. Trees are dumping their loads everywhere, snow is dense cement on top of facets. Mostly unpleasant skin up and skiing down in the trees but good exercise
