I know. As hard as I try I can't get that kid out of the park.

I'm betting that auvgeek may not have skied with your kids?

And would be in for quite a shock?

Harder than me too.... keep an eye out for my park rat on the FWQ this season. Of course I'll be posting annoying fatherly brags on an all too frequent basis. So stoked.

Did his qualifying for the junior worlds get mentioned here yet?

All the Ofts are beautiful skiers.

There's no amount of talent makes skiing on grass and rocks look beautiful.

I'm betting your sarcasm meter is broken.

Well, the things are anyway! Thanks. Yeah, Thing #2 qualified for junior worlds. Sadly he (we, dammit) won't be going because of a fucked up IFSA rule. If he went he wouldn't be able to compete as an adult this year. It's fucked up.

No claim of ANY beauty in that pic, and he'd probably be pissed if he knew I put it up. It was really more about his stoke factor and getting after it. But you knew that....

Fine start on heliotrope and great to hear hwy2 is sort of barely in play. I've been in the neighborhood for a few years, but this is the first year out of the ski industry with time to play in the winter, see you all out there...

SNOW IN THE PNW 2016-17: Return of the Shred-i

No, sadly; I made the move to year round work; still hanging out with the crew up there though, and the new gig will leave lots of time for the mountains!

Visited Rainier last week from MT!

We vanned on White Pass for 3 nights and commuted to Paradise 3 times.

Day 1 was down pouring. We are cool with skiing in the rain but it was really pouring.

Day 2 was sweet. Got a late start because the new memory foam in my van is SICK. But at a 10am start we toured ALMOST to Camp Muir. It was rainsleetsnowing to 8000' perhaps, then some light but accumulating snow and increasing wind. We skinned to what I estimate was about halfway up the snowfield. But then vis went to shit and we were worried about losing the rock we had as a land marker. Hung out for 5 minutes then we decided since we weren't SUPER familiar with the terrain, pulled the skins off and shredded maybe 700 feet of nice boot top pow!

Of course vis improved when we met back up with the skin track. Since we had vis we decided to explore a little bit on the descent. Took a sporty route down, a little down climbing, coniferous rappelling.

Day 3 we were determined to make it to Camp Muir. Got an early start to Paradise. It was puking. We made it to about 1/4 mile from the parking lot and a Ranger turned us around. Dang!

So we went to Chinook Pass and Greenwater. Camped on 410 for 3 more nights. Did some hiking and caught up with old friends. Found a bunch of chanterelles!

Super fun trip and super stoked on the first turns of the season! We are getting a late start in Montana. Visiting the PNW is always awesome. Y'all got it good!

Sorry for the lack of action photos!
There was a lot of rain.

    Looks tasty.

Had training this weekend up at the northern dead-end. Great warm breeze Friday followed by torrential downpour on Saturday. some new snow above maybe 5.5k by Sunday morning, but everyone in the swamp was hopelessly hungover after snowbash.

Yep, well, It's orange up that way. With the schedule I've got, I'll make the BBI unless its nuking that weekend.

I don't want to see any of you hooligans twisted and fucked up anywhere but the parking lot!
