I'll bet Baker opens Friday, too, like Predictor McPipe decreed.

That's got me wondering if my Fri. would be better spent earning my turns away from the hoards of #OptOutsiders in favor of holding-out to see what they offer for Sat.

Friday at the great white dead end would be better spent touring the near country. In the open, its skiable to 4500 as of yesterday, with not that much down to 3600. A day or two of this forecast could do wonders

    Edit:

For those that are interested in touring in the whiteout this weekend around the great white dead end - be aware that there are already soft windslabs lurking and plenty of holes and trees and things to get stuffed into.

Stevens added a new parking lot... that they'll gladly charge you $20 to park in.

I can easily afford this fee. I wish the proprietors of Stevens great success.

Tried skiing pickhandle point today by driving up from the east side(SR 410) and taking NF 462 as far as it would, in a car then on skins. Decided to abandon the forest road at 4500', just after Morse creek and paid for it dearly. Ended up spending 3 hours bushwacking to gain another 1000'. Buddy had a stomach ache so we turned around when we ran into the summer trail, probably could have saved an hour by taking that instead of the presumed winter path. Never got to transition from uphill mode into downhill mode on my split. I guess we'll give this season a real kickoff on Friday.

Save yourself from the crowd and head to Paradise or Hurricane ridge with the touring setup.... Or you could always head up to Crystal and tour southback

It was dumping @ Crustal today. I'm still slow at about 1000 vertft /hour, but the heavy pow skied great. They should be packing that snow, there's a ton of it.

Baker will be sick. 4 feet in the last 48 hours = insta-base. But I have unlimited early season at Whis I'm compelled to use.
