Coverage on Chinook is thin, but hey, it's PNW spackle, so it's skiable. Gouges and coreshots more or less likely.
What's more indeterminant is whether WADOT will keep plowing to keep Chinook open. The plows ran today, but budgets are tight.

I rolled up there late and got in 3 dinky laps solo. It was sweet to be out in a good ol' PNW storm.

North Side, Yakima Peak looked thin, so I opted for the South/Naches Peak side.

South side/Naches lot at 1:00 pm.

Coming back from Naches West apron:

Behind the weedy lies the meaty.

OK, more foggy and snowy than meaty (normally, Tipsoo lake can be seen across sr410) This was good skiing:

On the way back up, my turns on murky center to right.

I'm getting excited for this ski season. It's looking like it's about time for me to make my annual migration to the PNW.

Yes. But Mazama would be better if working is not on the radar.

Actually, on the Mazama side of Winthrop would be better. The mountain biking isn't as good near Mazama, and that means bike on car action. You'll still have to drive to ski, so it only adds a bit of time, and it's nice to eat out once in a while. Driving drunk back to Mazama all the time from Winthrop sucks.

Yeah anything hwy 20 would be preferred but ye Cle is where the work is. I just don't know much about the area on that side of the pass outside of Leavenworth. Leavenworth gave me nightmares for weeks on end of being attacked by gingerbread men with armbands so that's out too. Looks like them thar hills on the south side of 90 are wilderness free so I figured the sled and bike access would be decent......if it snows there.

The sled ski options out of Cle Elum and up the Teanaway are many and that's not even considering sledding to the Wilderness boundary and skiing an area most folks don't see in winter. Skiing Navaho, Three Brothers and other Teanaway peaks mid winter is pretty special.

That's kind of what it looks like. There's only so much you can learn from maps and google earth though. Thanks man!

We all live outside of town, because town is scary. There's a lot more to the Wenatchee valley than Leavenworth. I think its a great place to live if you're a skier. Lots of Sled Skiing access up by Lake Wenatchee and Blewett Pass plus the Cle Elum stuff is an hour (or less) away, You also have access to 2 ski areas within 45 minutes (Stevens and Mission) and 1 ski area within 1.25 hours (Alpental/Snoqualmie), plus it is only 2.5 hours to Washington Pass/Mazama and 2.5 Hours to Chinook Pass/Naches.
