Welp, after a slip and slide trek on the interstate and state highway to access the mountains yesterday, followed by the aforementioned event, I have a set of Hakka LT3s on the way. Sounds like they have beefed up the sidewall significantly, added length to the studs, and studs are now stainless vs carbide on the LT2. Only $10/tire more than the LT2 so seemed like a no brainer to move up to the LT3.

I'm a gonna get really fuckin' stuck now!

Hold it, stainless studs? That sounds like a terrible idea.

Why do you think its terrible idea?

    premature wear maybe?

Yeah, stainless is very soft compared to carbide.

Thought about that, but Nokian always seems to be ahead of the curve on technology so not sweating it too much. Worst case pull the studs, still a popular tire studless I'm sure.

They run 100% studs. They looked at us like we were crazy when we asked about studless tires.

Of course they looked at us like that for many reasons.

Some of us grew up poor and in snow country. Running balding tires and dusting folks with fancy new tires was a sense of pride, ya wanker.

and that was before covid denyiers were even a thing

so here up narth you can go into any mall, look at some shitty purple 10-15 yar old sunfire driven by a fat chick and it will have studded tires that are probably worth more than the car,

So be smarter than a fat chick in narthern BC and buy real snow tires eh

Anyone have experience with Firestone Winterforce 2? They’re like half the price of blizzaks that I usually run, they have the Xtreme snowflake / mountain icon on the sidewall.

I find the Outback does so well in the snow, I just run any decent snows- this go around Arctic Claws. And it is an absolute beast.
Haks on the Promaster, Blizzaks on the Vibe.

Put studded Hakka LT3’s on the sprinter for this winter. So far pretty great. Reasonable squirm on the dry
