I'm a pretty good shot and she loved every drop of that baby oil hitting her starfish in front of about 50 rowdy dudes. Remember when the yearly Wasatch thread was about skiing? Now shit is so crowded and complicated that it's 90% parking and how to use an Ikon pass.

Blackcomb, early 90's a friend & I were at a busy bar that played electronica / dance stuff. Start looking around and notice a weathered face, bearded guy at a corner table with a pair of 20 somethin chicks. Mr. Fred Becky himself lettin it hang out a bit.

I memba Baker in '98-99, the record 1,140" year.

We stayed at the Firs Chalet for a February weekend - a mass of teens with varying interests in snowsports. I grew up with a lot of the core families of the Christian Ski School that populated Stevens in the 90s. I wasn't much of a skier then (and couldn't ski pow on my ex-MH Meadows rental Rossi Cut's) but it was an impressionable trip nonetheless.

I memba the towering canyons of snow on 542,

I memba 98/99. My first time at Baker Thanksgiving 1998, 100" base on Pan Dome. It was some of the mankiest heaviest shit I ever skied, and it was glorious

The Alpine Inn up @ Crustal has a big print of this one on the wall of a hallway:

My mil summited Rainier and skied there back in the 50s. They also taught in the Nagel ski school at Crustal after teaching up at Stevens.

    Then there's the Nagel sisters:

I hadn't heard about them before. Looks like Judy really stormed onto the world cup scene when she was 16 and she retired at 18. It was a different time.

Memba gasoline powered drills/augers to set those new-fangled Break-a-way gates? Then strapping on your Conte slalom helmet to give it a go while your stretch pants and padded sweater smelled like gas and exhaust? And making your own shin guards and plastic glove armor out of old hockey pads because pole guards hadn’t been invented yet?

What a pain in the ass! worse than telemark bindings.

That Baker chair ramp with no snow is fucking retarded! I had no idea and have never seen such a thing before!
