I only know thanks to Lowell Skoog's alpenglow.org. it's another ski area that used to exist is a national park, that's why I mentioned it. The only other two I know of are hurricane ridge and badger pass in Yosemite. http://www.alpenglow.org/skiing/cayuse-2001/index.html

OMG! That explains so much. I think. I probably missed your soup, I was hanging out there in the late 60s early 70s. By the late 70s I was in Ballard and didn't go to the U-District as much.
Oh, and by the way, Morningtown!

How about cocoa at the warming hut at the top of what is now Skyline at Steven's?

Do I ever! The casual visitor, in my EC garb, figured out lapping that poma, in dumping low light conditions, was the hot setup. A bit rubber legged after my 2nd Loop, I bungled the mount and the lifty hit the stop. I managed to save it and was about 30 feet up track. An argument ensued when I insisted that he punch it. Locals in the que started catcalling and the llifty relented.

From a dead stop with slack, I launch pretty much straight up, paraglide upslope and manage to stick the landing to a roar from down below.

This, the terrain and the 1 street town left an indelible CB mark.

This is kool memree - harkins back to an $85 a month cold water railroad flat that went to $110 when the heat was installed. HW heater in the middle of the kitchen, right next to the stove. Me and the first legal wife slept on a twin and sucked in the urbane toxins everyday along with hotdogs, ramen and the constant need for brakepads. I really was a very happy clam.

Always a month or more of turns, never missing a winter, thanx to very good friends.

My timing is evidently a few years late. I didn't move to Ballard until 1985.

On Roosevelt, in the old gas station. I ate there a lot, you could get a lot of food for $5 there. And when they'd have music, stuff got funly st00pid fast.

    Member ski straps?

Member when I thought skiing moguls was fun and getting my first set of skis to work em in the mid 70's which I still have that I got at the Sniagrab in Denver, Olin Mark IIIs

I Member the Arapahoe ski club, which I could go to the local mall and get a round trip bus ride and a day ticket to ski for $7 for some place cheap like A-Basin or on the expensive side $12 for Vail.

Member leaving blue streaks down the slopes after crashing in jeans

Member slopes that had a minimum ski length so the moguls would keep a good shape?

I remember a lot of old screen names I don't see anymore. People who knew each other's first names. When this was a real community.
Don't meet too many Maggots anymore. Idk what's up with Missoula maggots and the Snowbowl crew. Bit of an insular bunch.
The guys around now are mostly pretty cool too.
    Thanks for everything.
