memba embroidered mountain patches that you would proudly have sewn on the chest and up and down the arms of your ski jacket.

member when ski lifts didn't even go to terrain worth skiing?
and lift capacity was woefully inadequate for the number of people skiing?
Seems to me like skiing peaked in the late 90's. High speed lifts to the alpine, but fat skis hadn't really caught on yet.

What about the one ride tickets? I memor them being like 5 bucks!

The last time I was there about 3 years ago I asked the gal in the ticket window how much they were now, she laughed and then asked me how old I was.

I had those too; with the weird little plates attached to the heel and toe of your boot that clicked and made walking on ice even more treacherous. For what they may have saved in upward releases from backward falls, they doubled down on bruised butts. After that I had Tyrolias for a little while, then marker simplex and rotomats.

Herman's- We are sports. They had package deals on skis, boots and bindings.

Not ski related but thinking about Hermans also brings back memroids of Crazy Eddy, it's an east coast thing.

    Nice!

three pages before rope (tows) are mentioned --

we had 'high speed' ropes on our three hundred foot hill --

first day in 1981, I made 180 laps. ... could not walk for three days : Dumb kid.
