As a kid I was captivated by that ramp, I'd just stare at posters and pictures of it. As Hawk mentioned, I still can't believe the most iconic ramp in skateboarding only existed for 3 days and hadn't been recreated since. This was a perfect finish to the legacy of the Chin ramp.

I played a VHS copy of that film until the tape broke. #ihaveseenhim

Am I weird, or simply pragmatic? I automatically thought this thread referred to the physiognomic oddity that hominids are the only animals with chins, and thus a search for other animals with chins has ensued!!

    As per:

    http://www.theatlantic.com/science/a...ws-why/431625/

EDIT: And not even all hominids...turns out that only homo sapiens have a pronounced chin, and no one really knows why. I'm presuming it is a linguistic adaptation for more complex spoken language.

    But as to the video.....OUCH!!!!

Ahh...you simply have no true concept of dry, sardonic humor and yet you seem to qualify yourself as the purveyor of such.

    Like the Sahara.

This is a dangerous video. Back when it was first made, I thought,"yeah I could do that someday."
Now I find myself saying the same thing.

When you're basically the undisputed KING of street skate, your words have a certain gravitas. Rodney brought poetic movement to skating like no one else.

EDIT: Scratch that! He hasn't "brought" poetic movement to street skate.... he BRINGS poetic movement to it. Past tense doesn't seem to apply to the guy.

I owned every one of their boards and had the pleasure of having the brigade stop by my buddies 1/2 pipe when I was but a wee grom, pre animal chin. They are one of the reasons I still skate over 30 years later. To all the old guys that want to get after it but are afraid... pad up, learn to knee slide and stay off handrails....

Ya one or two of them still being limber enough to shred that hard is amazing but all of them is unreal. Mullen is an alien. I get a full work out just stretching enough to get my shoelaces

Loved that movie when I was a kid. The loose narrative thread sealed the deal for me. made it more interesting somehow. Subsequent Bones Brigade films disappointed me in that they reverted to skate porn format. I like how in the 30 year vid they talk about the greater metaphoric significance of the search for animal chin. it is indeed all about having fun.

Being a skate kid of that era who no longer rides anything but a long board (occasionally) , i must say that I have always maintained the utmost respect for skating. Skaters are just f*cking cool and the tricks they pull off nowadays simply defy logic. Luan Oliveira, Nijah Houston and company.... that sh@t is soooooooo hard.
