I know you're ranting and not looking for answers, but here is what you need to trouble shoot:
    - When you press the MTB AXS shifter it blinks: Green: Battery is 100–26%, Red: 25–10%, Flashing Red: 10% battery life remaining.
    OR
    - To pair your AXS shifter to RD: Locate the AXS button on the rear derailleur, Press and hold the button until the green LED blinks, then release button. Then press and hold the AXS button on the shifter until the green LED blinks quickly. You're now paired.

Also your AXS app can tell you the battery life of the shifter (and removable battery on derailleur)

    EDIT:
You can also shift your rear derailleur with the little button on the derailleur if you have a dead (or even missing shifter, don't ask). A single press will shift down one cog, a double press shifts up one cog. You can do this to get you in a good cog to get home.

Oh man! I was wondering if you could manually change gears! Ty for that tip! I just had zero time to be farting around on trail yesterday messing with it.

So this bike has AXS dropper and shifter, so I always have a backup battery on me. That was not the issue...plus I had just charged them.

Just pulled the shifter off the bike and it started working. I *think* mud or a pebble was stuck in this crack area not allowing it to depress all the way? Idk, but it's working again.

I'm learning...thanks to you guys...it will take time for me to buy into the battery stuff.

Sorry but this is kindof on you if it is a dead battery.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of AXS but...
Spare shifter battery (CR-whatever) should be a no-brainer for every AXS user's pack and you generally get at least 3-4 rides before the der battery goes dead. If you forget to recharge that many times, well....

If batteries are charged, disregard the above and continue to rant away.

Honestly, it’s more like 3-4 months of use before the derailleur battery needs recharging.

Yeah, it's a CR2032. I don't have one in my pack, but that was not my issue. All my batteries were charged. It does make me wonder how long that CR will last though. I do need to throw one in my pack as it will eventually die when I'm in the middle of nowhere as this is my Blur tr xc bike.

My old Shimano Di2 would go that long but I was told AXS has a far shorter charge life.
    Good to know.

Pretty sure the shifter battery is supposed give a good 6 months. Makes it even more important to keep a pack spare since out of sight-out of mind.

Sram says 25 hours of ride time for a mtb derailleur. Hopefully that's not 3-4 months. If i go 2 weeks or so without charging i'll probably get a low battery warning on a ride. Usually have a spare with me. 2032 is wrapped up with the spare tube and co2s.

Think my mtb shifter went over a year before changing the battery, but my gravel/cx bike kills them every couple of months. I think what might be happening is the contacts in the shifter don't have as firm of a connection, adding resistance. I recently had a bike come in with a non functioning shifter and the side contact had gotten bent down somehow. Straightened it out and it started working again.

Use obviously factors in. My axs sit more than it gets used as I ride my Bronson 80% of the time. The cr battery is a year and half old now and still working. Not sure how much the axs batteries charge drops just sitting, but they do die with minimal use over time. For a 2nd bike I think axs isn't ideal just because it's ignored and then when the time comes you jump on it and the battery is dead...yeah, lack of planning and #firstworldproblems

Ground Control tire splits on seam after 7-8 months. Maybe that's why this pos comes tubed but is tubeless ready

Hats off to the local Specialized experience center employee for hooking me with a new tire. I know there's a lot of hate for specialsauce, but the employees have been nothing but kind and cool.

This new paint job is pretty cool.

Employees aren't the problem. Even the shops are generally good people. It's the top level of Spesh that fully earns the hate.

I hate Specialized a lot less now that I use their tires. Half the price and they last twice as long as Minions.

People who go on Trailforks and mark trails "closed" for some reason, but never check back and update the status when that issue gets resolved. Or they only mark some of the affected trails closed.

The Line Fire closure was revised in December. Now you have a bunch of trails still marked as closed that are now open. And others that were closed the whole time that are still marked open.

Anyone can submit that, it just has to be approved by the admin of the area. And if it was me, I'd probably have no idea if it was accurate. I'm not sure how many people pay attention to trailforks closures anyway.

Is "Reply with Quote" working for anyone else? All I get is a continuous scroll.

Same thing with "Edit". Seems anything on the bottom bar is out of order.

Just ranting about old man fitness compared to younger days (a problem of my own life choices really):
Been off the bike for 2.5 months, and getting onto the hardtail for the first ride in a while is always a jarring experience. Seems like nowadays takes me 2 rides to get the hardtail feeling back, like knowing when I’m floating the rear wheel and not having to worry about it getting hung up versus it catching on chunder and bucking me firmly onto my hands.
