Just your uptrack-nice
4 years ago we had that halloween storm Amazing to see it coming back around. Even though the ground is not frozen this week will help if there is some more cold to follow.
Saw this article yesterday in Scientific American about the Polar Vortex. Interesting read as it relates to winter in the Northeast. https://www.scientificamerican.com/a...y-be-shifting/

Attended the gun show this afternoon at Stowe. They're fired up top to bottom on the FourRunner side. The skiing wasn't anything to write home about, but October turns nonetheless.

East Coast Roll Call 10 [ten] SKI or SKI NOT, There Is No Try
Sweet article, thanks! Judah Cohen (who is referenced in the article) provides an almost weekly observation of the polar vortex status and other factors influencing the Northern Hemisphere winter on his blog. https://www.aer.com/science-research...ic-oscillation It's highly technical, but informative. (I may have posted this link before, you can sign up for email notifications of his blog updates ). I'm digging his current assessment of this coming season.

Finally checking in... tuned the rock skis up (as best I could), sharpened the picks, the screws, and about to drill up the newest addition to the family....

Aim for the chopping block. If you aim for the wood, you will have nothing. Aim past the wood, aim through the wood.

Was hoping for George tomorrow, but the freezing line kept rising. Hey its Snowtober, might go as Ullr this Halloween unless scotty isn't using his horse costume.

The Georgian Bay lake effect engine just started up, vroom, vroom:
"... Enjoy yourselves, keep your brain in your head and your head firmly attached to your body, the body active and alive, and I promise you this much: I promise you this one sweet victory over our enemies, over those deskbound people with their hearts in a safe deposit box and their eyes hypnotized by desk calculators. I promise you this: you will outlive the bastards." – Edward Abbey
