Great day today. We skied downdraft at 5:30. Bumps were flowing fast.

    Good times, good times.

Biggins, I saw you when I was driving up but I had a car right behind me and couldn't stop to say hi.

There are some words that come to mind regarding the snow in Left Gully but there is one that tops all of the others: SUPERCALIFRGEILISTICEXPEALIDOCIOUS!

    Yes, it was rooftop-dancing good!

Wind did not even rise to the usual Breezes, that is, not until I headed down. Might have been 20-30 MPH when I topped just above the LG Headwall, which is slightly steeper than average.

If it was pre-race, I was likely white as a sheet, hungover and terrified that I had agreed, nay payed to do this. If it was after the race I was probably praying to Allah, Jah, Yehudah, Shiva, whoever for getting me through that in the shape I was in. Either way- next time

Edit- Buttah is best skier on the mountain. And he "sure got some powerful pills!!"

Walking involved either way. Otto to the rescue soon.

The scale of the crush from the slide off the snowfield is astonishing.

Since the zany show at Tuckerman Ravine is in full swing:

Now, I've shifted my "basket" hand down as close to the basket as I can and I'm applying every bit of leverage on that basket that I'm capable of. My feet are in the air (trying to show that the skis aren't necessary in this process), and you can see the groove my pole is leaving above me.

Here, I'm driving that pole and basket into the snow as if my life depended on it.

Now I've already slowed pretty substantially. I've got a huge amount of bend in that pole, which is an indication of how much pressure I'm applying (thank God for Black Diamond poles ):
    Thanks to Bob Peters!

The only point to consider is whether or not to disengage with the straps of the ski poles before acsending, traversing or descending in no-fall terrain. I mention this because the angle of attack is better with the upper hand about halfway down the pole with the lower hand right against the basket.

I wonder if the Leki quick release straps would release the upper hand strap in the haste and vigor of ski pole self-arrest???

Second shot looks like some Norwegian type shit, lurker pole and whatnot. And the skis are actually carving. You should have made a huge move and skied that shit to the bottom.

Most of the visitors to Tuckerman Ravine wouldn't know a Whippet from an Avalanche Poodle....so I have been posting SPSA all over the place.

Some of those insanely long slides would have been very short if only SPSA was part of every skiers instruction....and they practiced it.
