It's nuts thinking about how far Eugene is from actual fires, but it's so socked in here that the moon (almost full last night) was barely visible and the street lights were lighting up smoke. Smokey in Florence, clear in Yachats yesterday. Medford must be a mess right now, I can't even imagine how bad it is in Brookings where they can't even fly.
Anyways, who's coming to TGR in Eugene?_______________________________________________

Saw in the Gram that Crater Lake is hidden from the rim because of all the smoke. Nuts.

Last day on Palmer yesterday but people are very optimistic about October operations. Sure seems like upper Palmer has enough snow to hold over. Much fun was had by all jumping the cat tracks. Two big trenches turned into a double stunt ditch. Stoke was high!

I've been around forest fires all my life but have never seen smoke that intense. We got through 84 about two hours before they closed it yesterday. People had sprinklers going on their roofs.

Rain in EUG! Fingers crossed for minimal lightning. Looking forward to less smoke ...

Either I am getting old, I have been skiing to often with Jonesy\TBS, or both...but I like this from Bachelor:
---
IMPROVING CLOUDCHASER
You spoke and we listened. After an awesome first year of skiing and riding the new Cloudchaser trails, you'll enjoy wider and smoother runs this winter!
Our mountain crews have been working hard to remove trees and stumps, grade the terrain and improve transitions between trails. With these improvements, Wanoga Way (shown in the photos above) is poised to become Mt. Bachelor's signature run - an intermediate cruiser dropping 2,700' from top to bottom.
Other trails are getting attention, too! Some of the hilly sections of the east catchline are getting smoothed-out. And we're adding new way-finding signage to help you navigate throughout the Clouchaser area.
---
I really did have some good days over there. I'll always love deep northwest, Outback, and Pine\Red (Honestly, until the family came around, I'd not been to the Sunrise lodge, or near Skyliner since I was a kid) I must admit...Cloudchaser is fun...
Improvements to the catchline were very much needed. Widening of runs and smoothing things out were not exactly necessary for me, but very much needed from a family perspective. (My wife likes wide, and I was always VERY paranoid when my son was on those runs and idiots were blowing by him at mach one...seemingly inches from a collision)
