People are talking it up but I haven't seen it yet. Salem Costco is crowded most of the time and that is the only example people are using around here. People are saying it is weekend busy now even though it is a weekday. It is summer break though so kinda like a weekend in Salem.

The only real route Eastbound out of Prineville is now closed. Yikes.

This smoke is never ending! It's even socked-in in Eugene today!
According to the local NWS office, Southern Willamette valley is getting smoke from the Chetco and Miller fires down near Medford. Should clear out down here by Weds when winds shift back to westerly.
Meanwhile I know it's a hot mess in Bend and Sisters from Milli fire, and Whitewhater is still smoking away ... I think it's time to put the MTB away for the weekend and escape to the coast.
edit: also, thoughts and support to those who are more seriously affected, including those working the firelines etc. My rant is obviously a minor inconsequential deal ..._______________________________________________

What is everyone's pass plans for the upcoming season? I have a slight waning interest in skiing (I know blasphemous), but looking to do a Ski Bowl night pass to start her off, and then finish with the Meadows spring pass.

early price at mhm was $499, minus my points...only amounted to $12, but whatever, $487 for a season pass that extends from Thanksgiving to May is a pretty good value for me

Question for you guys, what is optimal two hour period to hit Timberline this weekend for best conditions? I am thinking 9-11 AM should provide best turns or do I get out there early at 7:30 and get fresh cord?

We are getting Bachelor passes again. Was close to skipping this year, and doing meadows probably, but need to use this place as much as possible in Bend. Getting a little tired of the drive.

That's crazy, all the fire crew camps are right at the ski resort parking area - it's the command center for all the various fires in the Deschutes and Willamette NF.
Register Guard says the fire started on south side and jumped highway at Lost Lake.

Full Meadows pass and Timberline Spring pass FTW. And I plan to use my legs... Gunsight, Elk Meadows, Silver Star & Barlow... I want to poke around estacada if the snow level gets low enough this year... I picked up an old nordic guide book with pretty good maps of areas that I had never even considered skiing.
Anxiously awaiting first-snow... last year my season started Oct 13th.... Great feeling showing up for Warren Miller with a day on the books already. This year's WM is on the 13th. Pray for Snow.
You are right on the $ with 9-11. Things have been FIRM in the AM
(surprisingly-so!) I was breaking-through ice at almost 8am last week:
This was a couple hundred below the magic mile (about 6750?)
Hanging with BCSKI, Buildin Booters on the margins:
Patches? We don't need no stinking patches. 3000ft descent to within 1/4 mile of the car. last 1000ft through the remnants of the Mile Park was "rub-it-on-my-body"-delicious-compressible-dynamic-forgiving-AMAZINGLY-POPPY butter on a firm base. So FKN fun.
