Snowed pretty much all day at MHM, though not much accumulation. Interesting conditions. At times challenging and enjoyable. Lower bowls skied better than Heather, but Heather was open. No cascade today. Windy, sleety snow mostly. No lines to speak of. Arriving at 8am was good for 2nd row.
Sorry if this is old news, but I guess they're closing May 7th

2016-2017 ORYGUN - Annual Pow, Beer, and Duct Tape Thread
NWAC telemetry starting to show accumulation. Might try to hit the main lot around 10 for a few laps. Anyone else gonna be up there?

2016-2017 ORYGUN - Annual Pow, Beer, and Duct Tape Thread
Would MHM mags be interested in a lot party Saturday? Pond skim is scheduled. We could grill in the parking lot. Thus far weather is looking warm (current forecast says sunny 44).
I don't know what the pond skim schedule is, but maybe grill gets fired up at 12:30p, unless super bowl is open...
Lmk
If we can get a quorum on interested parties, the rest will work itself out.

Oh yeah! NWX and Summit have not been open since it started snowing. It's bluebird and no wind. Gonna be great!
Serious all the time.

Fuck oh dear. MtB just announced they are closing Cloudchaser 4/30 and NWX 5/7
Meaning we are down to Sky, Pine and Summit from 5/8 thru closing
And while I'm fully aware that many resorts have or will close by 5/1, I'm spoiled and expect more for my $900 season pass

i have no horse in this race, but i bet the fee is to prevent a few hundred people from "just trying it" as opposed to putting some effort into the event...my days of setting myself up for likely injury are over so i just watch the thing
(mt bachelor lists a "fee tbd" on their pond skim page...not sure if/what it will be)
i'll be up Sat either way and will bring the grill and have some extra beers in the cooler -- mike, you know what my rig looks like
it sounds like not many folks will be there so if it works out to hang after skiing, then great, but otherwise no biggie
i hope everyone is enjoying their spring
(we might get up sun too, i need to doublecheck with the fam on schedule)

maybe it's common practice to charge an entry since some of the prizes in some places are substantial. i wouldn't pay for the chance to break my neck but i wouldnt do it for free either. i just don't remember hearing about a fee the years i had a pass at mhm, but its been 3 or 4 now.

Honestly, it should be a deposit. Pay to reserve your spot, show-up and skim, get your money back. Paying to have your own talent be used by marketing is lame, but all the resorts in WA charge for the pond skim, too. To my knowledge, White Pass's is a Ski Patrol benefit, which I'm okay with. Stevens pockets the ca$h, as does Snoqualmonix
