    Robin Williams bike auction

Robin Williams' personal bike collection is going up for auction.

    Quite the quiver.

Funny to see the Trek Y33 and the ProFlex in there.

Thank goodness he rode a 56 or that DeRosa would be burning a hole in my portfolio

Exactly! I spoke with him in a bike shop off Paradise Dr. while he was astride that Merckx a few years back. He was pretty chill. That's another sweet bike...

I thought his frames were 54s???

That green Schwin model was my first ever bike. So tempting.

I met him too at a bike shop in the Marina (SF), (prolly City Cycle), and he was just looking at stuff. This was '97 or'98, and he comes over next to me and grabs some Shimano DH style high top shoes, and starts just talking with me about the shoes in general. I then started staring at the Ibis Szazbo, and he starts saying the name in a bunch of different ways: "Szaaaaaazbo, SZAZ-boooo, szazBOE, etc." I say "I don't get it either." We chat some more about places to ride, etc. Without prompting, the bike shop guy starts walking to the back and goes gets a Szazbo and brings it out, and Robin takes it out of the shop for a demo ride.

I say something to the shop guy, and he says:
"Oh, Robin has a bike problem." I shrug, and he says, "You know like some people have a drug problem."

Robin had bad BO BTW. If that Szazbo was in the auction, I'd consider it.

    Some cool bikes for sure.

At $350 a unit for shipping I wish was taking care of that end.

Shipping a 52"x8"x32" box anywhere in the USA = $80
    Insurance for bike $1/ $100value = $30
Shop labour to disassemble bike and wrap it with appropriate packing material. 1h = $100
Packing material, supplies and bike box = $30
Admin time of label printing and inputting info =$30
I get $270 worth of value, so there is a little bit of gravy, but not much.
