So while we deftly tread around on each other's feelings, hopes, dreams and loves, may I offer up one of my all time favorite musicians: Andy Partridge, founder of XTC.
He's doing some independent stuff with an on line download model for distribution.

First CD I ever owned was XTC - nonsuch. Still a great album

For anyone who likes having a look under the hood this might provide an even greater appreciation for this well-crafted pop gem - there's a lot going on.
