    The 4th Phase

As a seasoned-snowboarder, I prefer Push/Pull to this fluff for a pure audio and visual stoke for winter. Hugo pointing to the heavens after cliff stomps stokes me more, plus some Pinback! Sheeeeet!

Okay, there's a segment just before and after the segment where the skier ripped it last season with the electro-music that may be worth the price of admission. Still...

A bunch of time on nature shots and inspirational quotes is what I expected. But goddamn it was over the top. Took fuckming snowboaridnig way too seriously. You got a bunch of sick riders who have to be way smarter then this thing makes em look like let em rip and film that. I don't want to see a damn sailboat.

Holy Shit that sucked. Fucking snore fest. I like some snowboarding in my snowboard movies. Christ four years and four million dollars and about four minutes of actual snowboarding. Lame ass overindulgence. Some sweet yachting I guess.

Went to see the premier in Denver cause my good friend is a knuckledragger.

Film: in my opinion, okay at best. Incredible riding, in some awesome places. But a) I can only watch so many cork 100000s in the BC landing in a few feet of fresh before I get bored as fuck. and b) you're not fucking philosophers. You're snowboarders. Let your riding and conversation do the talking. It's not that a snowboard-philosopher wouldn't be cool, but your snowboarding is next level and your philosophizing is sophomore-in-mediocre-college. That said, some very nice cinematography almost made up for it at times.

The premier: are all snowboard premiers this lame? No swag, no reps, no party atmosphere, no pros signing shit. A bunch of people dressed up all cool as fuck, guest getting pictures taken on a red carpet.

Thank god Tight Loose rolls through town next week. I need to wash that sterile experience from my mind.

I was pretty disappointed with it. I found it odd they made such a big deal out of one of the riders bailing because of crappy snow, sketchy conditions. It seemed so dramatic. He just wanted to go ride. Then Travis has a pout session about his buddy bailing because conditions were sketchy and he wanted to go ride somewhere else. There was a lot of dialogue about how Travis sets his mind to something and does it no matter what. He also got nailed in a huge slide and is really lucky to be alive! Slow your roll and make some smart decisions. Anyway, there was some sick riding in spots but overall it was disappointing. Glad Travis survived that slide!

THIS. I haven't seen the movie but in general I agree x1000. Ski / ride a sweet line or some nice powder through the trees, don't just hit the same kickers over and over again or you might as well just be in the terrain park.

When a snowboard movie starts with a quote like "To seek is not to be content… I am a seeker"

I have to be careful what I say as I don't want to get my ass kicked in the backcountry, although I splitboard and have only see Travis once in Jackson, and it was not on snow.

Oh Travis, oh Red Bull, of Brain Farm.. Hada feeling back in March that something was up when I wrote a piece on Red Bull selling the Fourth Phase from under Brain Farm which ruffled some feathers in the local bro brah community.

At the end of the day, they spent a ton of money and a lot of time to put this together. Is there an ROI here? Doubtful, what will this do to future ski or snowboard projects. What would TGR420 do? Speaking of which snowboarding is about having fun, smoking weed, drinking beers if thats your sort of thing, being a dirt bag, watching Hatchet flicks, Robot Food. Problem is, we all have to grow up sometime, or maybe not?

Travis seems he's at the Shaun White level these days, maybe it's time for tight pants and a guitar? Or take up surfing on the fancy catamaran he is rumored to own.

One final thought to ponder ~ Where would snowboarding be today if Josh Malay was alive

Watched it for 30 minutes. Meh. Everyone going the Sherpas Cinema route it seems lately. Their movies are great and have a place, but they all can't be like that. Give me skiing stoke and back off on the environmental messages. My two cents.

Watched the stream last night, very cool that they premiered it for free! The overload of epic shots and triple corks at first were awesome but didn't hold my attention all the way through. Definitely some stoke inducing parts that made it worth a watch but I won't be buying it. I wanted insight on the crazy lines, tricks, and accidents but all I got was philosophical bullshit with vague relation to some new phase of water.

Props to Travis for taking a new angle on snowboarding and not selling out to make Art of Flight 2, but aof remains a better film.

I haven't seen the film and this has nothing to do with these riders but from watching other videos I sort of get an chuckle out of what are what some might call extremely privileged folks trying to create drama from their "disappointments" or "failures". These antagonistic problems seem a whole lot like rich kids crying about how they didn't get it just their way more than anything else to people that know legit struggle and hardships. It's almost embarrassing to watch.

That being said I can't imagine that this film is bad, it sure looks awesome.
