MAKE TAHOE DEEP AGAIN ~ 2016/17 OFISHUL SNOW/FOOD/WHINE & STOKE THREAD

    Welcome... Back!

This year, we have no clear indicators in ocean surface temps or overall global patterns. It could be great or it could be teh suck or just average (which worked out pretty well last year). No doubt the tiniest snowfall will be hyped just as much as the supposed benefits of massive development. Mother Nature may be waiting on the election to decide how to treat us. Whatever happens in politics, it's going to snow somewhere, sometime and you better be ready. Help your bros and sistahs stay fired up by posting stoke and positive vibes.

    Get good karma:
Keep Squaw True Development affects us all. Help shape it in accordance with local values, not bureaucrats and investors from out of the area.
Tahoe Backcountry Alliance Collective action so that the Powers That Be can hear backcountry users speaking up about winter access.
One Reno Mount Rose Anti-colonial kickstarter working to keep Mt Rose ski area local and responsive to skiers. Volunteers needed!

I know everyone is wetting the bed with the heavy heavy dusting going on right now in the Tahoe area...but I'm surprised I haven't heard more about the Mt. Rose sale and proposed purchase effort.

Here's an article about a group of folks trying to buy Rose and "keep it local" or whatever. http://www.sierrasun.com/news/busine...ose-ski-tahoe/

Anyone know anything about these benevolent humans saving Rose from Vail Corp?? I mean, "Keeping Rose Local". One Reno? https://www.facebook.com/oneRenoMtRo...SEARCH&fref=nf

Hey guys, I'm really hoping to take my level 1 avy course this year and I'm looking for a little bit of direction. I've done a handful of backcountry trips but all of them were late spring and early summer with no fresh snow and little danger of a wet slide. I have all the necessary gear, based in Truckee and I've checked out the sierra avalanche center website but I don't really know which course provider to start with? I was hoping one of you could steer me in the proper direction. Thanks in advance.
