    good stuff gang-
    that wolverine?!?
I need to upload some recent wildlife pics- many good ones of late
we rd bikes at the Jackson Hole Bike Park on Sunday and saw a bear, 2 moose, 2 foxes + marmots (of course)

but saw this on the news today and not sure if sharks qualify as wildlife but I dig them. This is almost Jaws-like!
I am disappointed that nobody said "we need a bigger boat" though

No pic but out kayaking the other day watched a bald eagle chasing an osprey. The osprey wasn't carrying a fish. Watched this for a few minutes, no contact was made and then they took off across the lake and it looked like the osprey was behind the eagle. Then on my way back I saw them again--the eagle flew into the trees near shore and the osprey went off down the lake. I little google searching--apparently eagles will take fish from osprey but I didn't see anything about eagles hunting osprey or other flying birds. ?

eagles are known for stealing fish from osprey etc. maybe it had one prior and it was still hazing
it's one of the reasons Ben Franklin pushed for the turkey over the eagle as the national emblem
The eagle was of "questionable moral character" for it's frequent thievery lol

Heh. Many times I’ve enjoyed annoying a passing american tourist with my negative description of their national bird. From a distance it may appear striking, but as far as raptor nobility goes, it’s about as base as it gets. Shithawk scavengers.
Too bad the krauts claimed the golden eagle first. Are there no northern goshawks below the 49th? Now there is an aggressive raptor that refuses to permit any trespass within its nesting territory to go unchallenged!

Watched 3 osprey circling with each other and calling to each other--I've seen 2 together before, never 3.

I've seen too many golden eagles feed on carrion to give them much respect, nothing but feather headed vultures. Falcons of any species, even the diminutive kestrel, are cool.

I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...

Likely a family unit, parent and two fleges, or two parents and one fledge. Use to see the whole Cooper's hawk family that nested in our pine trees flying togther, sometimes six at once. Alas, the trees are gone after the fire, and so our hawks have moved on.

I came across this guy a couple of days ago bushwacking around the Wasatch looking for new rocks to climb. I was staring at the topo map on my phone trying to figure out the best way off a steep shoulder sprinkled with cliff bands. Caught a flash of out-of-place coloring and looked up to see him do the spray dance. He was about 6' away which is within range of the butt juice. Had to beat a hasty retreat to avoid getting it. I realized later that I had never seen one alive, only flat ones on the road. They're smaller than I thought and considerably more aggressive and territorial. Basically deranged kitty cats.

That's what I guessed, but I thought they all looked full sized, wouldn't it be too early in the season for that--or is the fledge last year's hatchling?

A local paddling & ski bud, it sounds like Alex managed to critically wound the bear without it laying a paw on him using a hatchet

Just posted this in the Wasatch bike thread. Pack City trail moose, juvenile bull. A bit curious but kept his distance. Took me a minute to go around while telling him how good a moose he was not murdering me and all...
