The two men regularly took fishing trips on the boat, which was badly damaged when it was struck by the breaching whale.

A mother black bear and her cubs found this spring-fed pool which happened to have two wildlife cams ready to record things.

There used to be a little spring fed pond on the hillside well above our house--until the PUD bulldozed a road through it and destroyed it. Now the bears, deer, and coyotes have to cross people's lots and a busy road to get to water.

I got out for a hike and had some friends waiting for me at the top. It was pretty cool to spend a couple hours watching goats. With heavy wind I was able to sneak in within 50 yards while they were feeding but the brush was thick enough I couldn't get any decent photos.

Yeah, terrible photos. ; - ) The only goats I've ever seen were about the size of the period at the end of this sentence, with binoculars.

Thanks OG. Those pictures are from about 150 yards. When I was able to make my way closer there was too much brush in the way.

I have a spotting scope and a mount to hook my phone to it. This was the first trip so it was a pretty great way to try it out!!

Awesome shots! I remember catching a goat watching me from under an overhang on Mt Alice. It was a bit smaller and more of a flat roof than John_B's last, but I was less than 50' and goat didn't move a hair...I'm like, "You is Clever Goat! Imma pretend I don't see you, which I don't anyway. See?"

I'm a mile away and just holding the phone to the scope.....Really need to up my digiscoping game....

Highangle I'm using the TinesUp Phonecam. It's a universal adapter that works on any spotter/bino and then has a threaded attachment that epoxies to your phone case. In theory it's future proof and I will be able to remove and replace the tab onto future phones.

I should get rid of my S9, was never real impressed with the camera in it...Have an older gopro and wonder if it's better to get digiscope case for it?

FB post US Dept of Interior:

You wake up in the morning, open your tent, and see these bear prints leading straight to your campsite. 😲

That's what happened to this backpacking photographer at Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve in Alaska.

With record breaking attendance to public lands sites this year, we could see an increase in bear encounters.

If you are visiting bear country, what should you do if you see one of these amazing animals? Here’s some tips to help keep you AND the bear safe: http://ow.ly/DuWU50FfufK

^^^Heh, reminds me of IAS' story about waking up at a fire camp with cougar tracks all around his head...

Fishing this morning on the Metolius, I wondered why the hole went from active feeding to dead quiet.
Then these two came crawling out about 30' away

Been there done that. Once. When I came down with a bad case of acute mountain sickness and said I'm not going another step.
