    Wildlife

wanted to share this pic that I got last night......
Post up your wildlife sightings here too!

we took an early afternoon/evening drive thru GTNP
Saw some bears crossing a field just past Jackson Lake Dam (first pic)
Then kept driving on and then all of a sudden the bears are crossing the road in front of us!
a mother and 2 yearlings it looked like
prob the closest I've been to bears in my time here. amazing!
    they also looked VERY healthy

    Very kewl

Earlier this year got to paddle a remote river in WV, came around a bend and saw two bear cubs which instantly turned up hill and broke into a run. Probably towards mom. I had wished to see some bears before we got on the river that day.

    Did not get any pics.

There's a couple of bears in my neighborhood but it would be awkward to take their pic without asking first

Had a encounter with two cougars while mountain biking a few days ago, taking a picture didn't cross my mind until afterwards, too scary!

    Wildlife

This fox rolled up on me as I was fixing a couple boards on the bridge. Pretty sure I was interrupting its daily commute because about 10 minutes after it walked away it came back thinking I had left. Got even closer to me than the pic about midway on the bridge but didn't get a shot of it. Wasn't afraid just didn't want to deal with me. Name: ImageUploadedByTGR Forums1474201775.024679.jpg

I coax the little ones like this guy. He or she is a beautiful red with these cool black and white ear markers. It lounges regularly on the deck.

The big ones, not so much.

^^^^ Amazing shot with the deer and owl.
We've got a bunch of owls, but they sure don't stay put when they know they've been seen.

That's Bubo (the clockwork owl from Clash of the Titans), he's an 8 inch Northern Pygmy Owl
He hung out for about a week and you could get really close to him

    Cool thread.

I've got this guy hanging out on a branch over the pond out back and had no clue what it is. Turns out there's a lot of websites that make it really easy to identify birds. Never seen one like this before and thought it was a cross between a woodpecker and a blue jay that was plucking fingerling bass out of the water with ease.

    Apparently it's a Belted Kingfisher.
I still call it The Jake.

An oldie (2006-ish), but a goodie: Caught a moose taking an evening swim across Lake of the Woods near Kenora.
