Speaking of birdbaths. I'm visiting my folks in Western OR and they have a Sharp Shinned Hawk using their bird bath every couple days. I got some cool shots with my phone through my spotting scope.

I'm not great at bird identification so this could be a Coopers Hawk too. I took a tape measure out later and the field of view for the spotter is about 16 inches at that zoom level. Any tips are welcome for ID!

My vote is for a (late?) juvenile sharpie (jay-sized vs crow sized, colouring/marking suggests a younger bird, head not overly large in perspective with body and not so 'blocky' in shape)

    Wildlife

These two were staring at a family of coyotes that were hunting around about 50-75 yards away where those willows start

This guy has been hanging around the house. Anybody wanna ID? We’re wondering if it’s tame. It had what looked like a leather strap hanging from its talon until recently.

Your yard has a lot going on in it. I think it's a Cooper's Hawk

Taken from my yard looking towards the monstrosities that are being built behind us. Those new trees can’t grow fast enough.

Oh man - all the same design AND the same color. WTF? Not even three similar but unique builds with multiple allowed colors. Just strange.

It could have spotted some rats on those gravels and bushes.

I noticed that they named it bearapalooza.

The other night I counted 13. Watched one chonker eat three salmon in a row. (for some reason I had it in my mind they would eat one and then move along. But I get it bear, when the fishing is so good why stop?)

Also watched one clumsy bastard topple over the falls. That was kind of funny to see.

They're hilarious to watch, especially when there are a whole bunch of them and the hierarchy starts to show. The lazy ones that just stand there and lazily paw at a salmon going by crack me up, especially when they're next to a super industrious bear who is putting his head underwater constantly and jumping around all over the place.
Looks like the bigger bears are already past the stage of eating the whole fish and just going for skin/brain/eggs. Good thing the less dominant bears eat the leftovers cause that is some serious waste...
