Yeah, out backyard has a dozen or more all day long...hummingbirds, not moths.
I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...iscariot

We have owls around our place too. Every once and awhile I find a rabbits foot or other piece of carrion on the deck.

If you had gotten closer and down at eye level you could have taken a better picture.

I wasn't sure is this should go in the shit that annoys you, shit that amuses you, I love my wife and all..., or here, so here it is.
I was sleeping with the window open Saturday night when I hear something outside, the distinct sound of an animal scratching at plastic. I go downstairs to the window and turn on the light to see a skunk dragging a black plastic box around the yard. I yell at him and toss a stick his way but he doesn't give a shit. I then realize that he's not dragging the box, his head is stuck in it.
I make the mistake of calling my wife downstairs to look and she is horrified and insists that we go out and help him. After some arguing and hand wringing at 4am, she goes out and throws a towel over him and then holds him down while I try various tools to cut this thing off his head. It remains remarkably calm during the whole process of me using everything from a drywall saw to branch loppers. After around 15 minutes we got him free and he ambled off into the night. He didn't appear to be injured but I have no idea how long he had been dragging that thing around. He repaid us by coming back later and spraying something nearby.
It turned out to be a rat bait box and it didn't look like he had gotten to the poison in there. My wife got to pet a skunk and she can't quit talking about how soft and sweet he was.

Wildlife
Ok, I can look past my innate northern Canadian fear and repulsion of all things snake and say that that is indeed quite a striking creature. Well done on your rescue efforts and kiddos to skunk dude above as well. Glad your rescue effort turned out as it did.
