Nope. It’s a New England seal… which is closer to upstate than some would like to admit I think.

Ha! Cool. I did a quick google and it appears the occasional seal up the Hudson does happen. Made me wonder if another one got lost Upstate.

Yeah, they do wander up the Hudson occasionally. I’m always on the look out when I’m home but I’ve never seen one. There have been a few whale sightings in New York harbor lately too.

Looks like shark food to me. I wouldn't be stoked to be so close in a kayak

I try not to worry. This was way back in a cove anyway= low probability of shark activity. I think about sharks a lot more when I’m in the actual ocean. It’s hard not to think of them there. My surf kayak is a lot smaller and a sit-on-top which doesn’t help

Chicks in our local turkey flock are getting big enough to explore. Not sure if they can fly yet? so kept the pup on a tight leash around them. The big ones are more than adept at avoiding her..

Those hens can get pretty sporty if something goes after their poults. One time I watched a couple hens try to kill a red tail after it went after a little one. They weren't just tryint to scare it off, they were going to fuck it up if it hadn't managed to get away.

Here's some wildlife I saw on my recent Colorado trail bikepack:

Just past the campground at Kenosha pass

Not really wildlife but still cool, couple guys doing the CT and making a documentary ("donkeymentary"). Donkeys carrying their camera gear. Passed them at the start of the climb to Georgia Pass

Moose with tiny calf at bottom of Fooses Creek. Kinda sketchy, was a bit close for comfort here

Pika, on climb to Searle pass

More moose, just beyond Coney Summit and Carson Pass. Never seen 2 bulls together before. There was a mama and larger calf hanging out maybe 100ft away as well.

    Marmots somewhere up high

Marmot at the Cascade Creek bridge. No fear, and only interested in licking sweaty shoulder straps not the bag of swedish fish on the ground.

And the flowers.... everywhere was flowers. Best I've ever seen...
