LARGE bear peeking in my bedroom window last night. I usually sleep with that window open, but I’d shut it due to temps in the 30’s.

Looking to get warm. I hope you let him in.

Yellow jackets have been an issue. I caught two mice and left them out for the ravens.

read this today and cracked me up- Apparently the Yellowstone rangers play AC/DC Hells Bells over the speakers to disperse the bison jams

But only around 500 flying free. The condor on the left in the second photo is #342, the first wild hatched condor since their reintroduction in 1991.

Yesterday morning we had a blue ribbon bear viewing. Though the cabin window a medium sized black bear was sniffing around. We watched as he meandered through a pasture then right up to our cabin.

Motionless we sat as he looked in our windows. Pretty cool. Mrs. SIJ watched some cubs through a window one day, but this was the best I’ve ever seen.

Our ranch kitty is a killer. There is a running rodent gut pile just off the back porch. The magpies clean up most of it, but I surprised he didn’t smell it. Once mountain biking I stood behind a tree as a bear strolled by. I couldn’t believe he didn’t smell me.

Saw these out hunting yesterday. Pretty sure it's a griz based on how far from the toes the claw marks are. And fresh enough to make me turn around.

Moments ago. A fox saw me through the window and turned around and left.

He took a shit and from said squat pounced a few times and caught the a vole.

One of the most impressive animal performances I've seen was a big horn ewe bounding through a talus field in the Winds like it was level ground. Doug Robinson (aka Mr. Running Talus) would have been proud.
