Pair of jays built a huge nest on the neighbor's upper deck beam. The nest fell off the beam, maybe the wind did it. They started to build on a ledge right over our front door which is way too narrow. We quickly blocked that off before they wasted time on it. They're looking pretty perturbed now.

Put'em up a jaybird house, you stingy old sew&sew!
Srsly, the ones USF&WS puts up here are a little bigger than you might think - 12" floors and 3" entry holes, about 16" tall with a 6:12 roof. Try to choose the same aspects/conditions the birds aim for, as they don't want the chicks to overheat or get cold.
Steller's jays are a bit territorial, and congregations of them out in the open attract predators, so you shouldn't really put jaybird houses closer together than about 100yds, and away from places other birds go.

Beaver got kicked out of the cool kid's eddy, by the chomp marks on the tail. Skulking at the fountain

Now the jays are trying to build a nest on a beam over our front stairs that's way too narrow. Every twig or piece of dry grass they put up there falls off on it's own.

Wildlife
Turkey Buzzard invasion. Speaking of Ravens, there’s a group of them that terrorize any Buzzard that gets within range of my back yard. They’re relentless. Hmm, supposed to be a GIF.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

Pops just sent me this picture of a Rubber Boa.
Love these! Such cool little constrictors. Kept one for a while as a kid.

The jays keep trying to build nests on narrow ledges under our eaves and the neighbor's deck, as well as on the ribs of deck umbrellas--easily solved by keeping the umbrellas closed. The nests keep falling down, often before they can even get started. Still, jays seem a small problem compared to this woman who has a condor problem on her deck.

Those stupid jays keep trying to build on nest on the narrow ledge under our roof overhang. Every twig they put up there falls off, they've been at for a couple of weeks and show no signs of giving up.

My neighbor had an unexplained pile of dirt appear next to a hole in his yard. We set up one of our game cameras and look who we found.

No Badgers burrowing Upstate. However this turtle decided to lay its eggs within 6 inches of our driveway in the mulch. I assume the combination of proximity to the hot as hell driveway and dark mulch keeps the eggs warm if not cooked.
