Ground squirrel is a burrowing rodent that hangs out in forestland. The ones around here look like this
Bodies maybe 4" long x 2" wide; prolly weigh 24oz. I've seen 3 sec hang times when they jump across the trail.
Riding buddy had one try to run through his front wheel last season - didn't end well for squirrel, and this kind of jerky-like stuff hardened between some spokes - was a bitch to get cleaned out.

Most dangerous animals around here are the deer mice that occasionally scurry around our living room--there've been a couple of bad hantavirus cases here.

Not sharks but I did see an Orca take a seal off of Whidby island. Orca came out of nowhere, breached, grabbed seal and dove. Pretty impressive when sitting in a sea kayak 50 yards away...
