No pics, too sad. Saw a yearling black bear lying in the ditch on a gravel ride. He popped his head up and made some noise, but didn’t budge. He looked mangy and was covered in leaves and dirt. Really pitiful little guy.

I called the wildlife center and DGIF. DGIF lady said yearling mange cases are up and that they’d send somebody out to see if he could be helped or needed to be “dispatched”. I asked for an update but haven’t heard back.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

even a half strength moon provides enough light to navigate trails on treeless terrain. but you run the risk (a pretty high risk at that) of stepping on these guys

these guys were hanging out in this small notch about 6ft up an overhung cliff above a mostly dried up creek bed. didn’t know they were such proficient climbers

If you have dogs, snakes are a problem. I am not a fan of snakes (thinking Indian Jones)

That is why I like dogs, more than most people.

right now along the river there is a group of foxes screaming and it's echoing across the valley. So freaky. Sounds like a woman being murdered.

When you see something that is not right, not just, not fair, you have a moral obligation to say something. To do something." Rep. John Lewis

I don't know if suburban life counts as wildlife, but my wife caught a picture of this guy two streets over. Then I saw him, or a relative two days later walking across the bottom of our year with a rabbit in his mouth. Lived here 27 years and have never seen a gray fix before. Lots of other suburban wildlife, but never a fox. Probably has so.ething to do with the fire, but that was 2 1/2 years ago.

once a year, they find a quiet beach and hide for a week while their outer layer of skin sheds, I've heard they're miserable and get flu like symptoms too. this one was on the beach next to the house, it was there for about a week. My gf had someone come down to check on it and it was fine. They told us not to tell anyone about it and leave it alone, we did.
