I bought my ‘00 LX470 with 280,000 on the clock for $9000 in 2018. It had every scrap of paper from everything ever done to it (most of it at the dealer) in an inch thick folder with a excel spreadsheet of cost over time. I agree with the stereotype that Lexus’s are probably over-maintained by wealthy, type A original first owners. That is why I bought my particular truck, once I saw the folder and spreadsheet, I was sold! The short version is my truck has averaged $1700 a year to maintain over its lifetime. That includes my additions of Slee sliders, building a rear sleeping platform, Gamiviti roof rack plates, awning, etc. I budget $2000 a year to keep the truck running in top shape and addressing any issues that come up without delay. I now have 305,000 miles and everything is tight. my goal is 500,000. Good luck, 100 series are great trucks.

Edit to add: Sleeping platform is ideal. It allows you to keep the rear seats in the truck and provides more room. Lots of threads on ih8mud on building one.

I drive around a lot/camp in Northern Maine and my truck has never been fucked with because it’s a Lexus. I wouldn’t worry about that stigma.

It was covered in the Ski RV/Sleeping in parking lots thread last winter, but here's a couple more photos. .50 cal ammo can converted to woodstove inside a metal toolbox with firebrick. Works great!

Does KBB account for the resale value bump of a wood stove? Asking for a friend.

Thanks for the info! I was hoping to get in for 10k and spend ~2k or so a year so that sounds about right... just have to be patient to find a decent one.

I’ve been poking around the 470’s and 460’s, found one with reasonable miles and price but it’s losted as damaged in carfax. Noted that evidence of rust was found significant enough to flag and get the comment “should be inspected by qualified mechanic blah blah” were they subject to the same recall as the Toyota frame rot?

That is epic! How does the ammo box not instantly melt the synthetic floor liner or seat? That copy of Ski Journal doesn't even look singed. You are either a madman or a genius but either way I salute you.

I'd say you are aiming low with that stack of maintenance records. Add another 250k

    That stove is legend!

Ammo box is sitting on top of firebrick which is in the tool box.
