Total old man move ! I deleted photos on my phone, Moto X with Android 5.1 and need recover. I see a shit load of apps, windows based downloads out there. anyone have experience with any of this ?
I can fix my car and appliances but this kind of shit always fucks me up.
No pictures of naked wife, girlfriend or daughter to offer.

Did you have it hooked up to a Google account? I had the exact same phone, and all my photos were set to auto-backup to Google Photos (which is an extension of Google Drive storage). You can do that with any Android phone easily, but not sure if you had it set up.
Also, don't install anything on the phone. Don't want to overwrite any free space that you may be able to recover a photo from. Or at least that's my recollection from when I had to deal with something like this last.

Any chance you have the Google Photos app turned on? If so, they will have auto-uploaded to your Google Drive account. If you don't have it turned on, do it now and never worry about deleting photos again.
edit: Lightranger beat me to it

Download Recova to your computer. Plug phone into computer set as camera or storage or whatever.
See if Recova can see anything.
Idk how well it works with flash memory, which is what's in a phone vs magnetic storage like in most computers still (although they too are moving more and more to solid state drives), but if there's still charge in those transistors/capacitors/etc, the program may see it.

Let it go. iTunes killed the pics on my phone and I looked into a bunch of different photo recovery programs - all worthless, most were phishing programs. Sucks to lose the pics but you still have the memories, right? Lesson learned the hard way.
Next, get up-to-speed on Google photos. HIGHLY recommend! Unlimited photo storage for free, and it does it automatically.

Did you have the photo on removable SD card? If so, you can pull the card out and use a card reader and try any of the number of memory card recovery apps out there specifically for photos. If it is on the camera memory, then you could have a higher risk of the photo getting overwritten with new stuff and the phone will have to be plugged into the computer with the USB cable and drivers loaded etc.
As for which software, Stuck recommended one, there are others- first step to see if any of these finds anything. Others are out there like Easeus, ZAR and a complete review of various ones is available here: http://www.online-tech-tips.com/comp...ures-for-free/
Second suggestion for any future stuff like photos is to get a cloud backup set up- Google Photo's, Dropbox, Amazon, pick one and set it up to sync photos when wifi is available. Then when you delete a photo it will ask if you just want to delete off the device, the cloud or both on Android. It would not help if you have a limited data plan and use only the wifi upload, if you delete before you get to a wifi network and get the uploading completed.Last edited by RShea; 09-01-2016 at 03:55 PM.

The free version is useless. you have to pay if you are serious about data recovery. It works great for hard drive and sd cards. But for phone data recovery, this app listed in this tutorial is much better to recover photos from android. Verified with my Galaxy S5.

If you have synced the data before, you can recover from the backup file. If not, I think you should not add more data to your device anymore. Then, it is better for you to try some professional recovery methods to recover photos.

Way to bump a 9 month old thread, why would professional recovery have success after 9 months unless the phone was powered off and not used....

Deleted photo recovery on phone
I would like to say that if you have created a backup of the deleted photos from phone then you can easily restore them. But when you don't have a backup then its really difficult to recover those lost photos.
But with the help of recovery program like Android Photo Recovery, you can get back missing photos from Moto X phone. It can work on any Android brands to retrieve deleted pictures without any backup.
