I'll be skiing Wednesday and Friday. The drive into calgary was as awful as I've ever seen it this morning. Ice, slush, sleet, snow. About 6 inches on the hiway from canmore to the casino

Damn. My timing was almost excellent.

Back home in Montucky now, but thanks for the hospitality. Five resorts (er, four resorts and Mt. Norquay, I suppose), two non-resort days in national parks, and 2200 miles on the XTerra in 10 days. If I did it again, I think I'd be looking to spend less time driving, but it was great to see a pretty good swatch of territory in a relatively short time. Closing day at Kicking Horse was probably the highlight for me, but it's hard to go wrong with views just about anywhere in the mountains.

SSV looked sweet today, I was on Wawa all day until the course ends on Friday. The snow was awesome. Freeskiing (on rentals) Sat-Sun-Mon before I fly back to Ottawa.

    Sick!!!

Must have been some great sluff below you! Well done buddy. Thats some gnarly no-mistake skiing!

Looks most snow caked I have ever seen. Still lots of Rocky Mtn sharkies out there to bite the unaware. I want to see you guys send the meat next run!!

    Rocket Pocket is next!

thanks buddy: Do you know anyone that has skied that line before? Red magic is not sure, and I've asked Rowan.

RP: after the hill closes might work, but patrol has closed milkyway, so you can't get to RP now. (unless you climb up it first) but its on my list, not sure my back can handle the drop(S)

Here are two shots from the same section - mntlion's perspective and then mine. This sketchly little ramp felt like the biggest crux for me, massive exposure below.

I've been trying to talk my way into Rocket Pocket for the past month or two but they won't allow uphill traffic on the Cream shoulder to access it since management turned that whole side into a permanent closure.

What is all permanent closure now? Cream?

milky way is PC, and a sign on the FB traverse, looking up to cream, saying "no uphill traffic"

so MW is closed, and you are blocked off of cream, so can't get to RP either

Interesting. I wonder what prompted that?

milky way slid, 1-2 years ago, when the terrain was open, catching a few people. No full burials, but a few partials.
snow safety is a LOT less cowboy, after the "patrol purging" 5? years ago?

That's too bad. Imo that's part of the risk and preparing yourself. Guess you're just going to have to poach the lines like dirt! ;-)

Nice work spooky and mntlion- sick shit.
Im sure there has been a few thru those zones but far and few, most memorable for me is Geoff Small to do the top portion in the Export A comp, after the main top (climbers right in your red after the main entrance, steep and ultra gnar) and only tracks Ive ever seen thru that section. Never really enough sticky snow to go in there. The bottom part of your line where u worked climber right/back left and then right is similar to Frenchy Robin Courcelle in one of those comps. Kevin, me and one other I'm aware of has worked that spine above your entrance top to bottom and then exited the no-way out thru the bottom. Younger and dumber back then although I'd love to have the opportunity to go ski it if I had a comp ticket but sunshine doesn't really care about skiing propoganda or pushing the level skiing at there resort just british tourism....
