    Finger Lakes, NY Region

Anyone else on here in the Finger Lakes? I'm currently living in Geneva and looking for some fresh ideas for hiking/biking/skiing.

Just got back from Ithaca. Check out Taughanock Falls. Various hiking trails around there.

The Finger Lakes trail network used to offer some pretty good single track riding.

Was there any water flowing over the falls?

I went to college in Ithaca so pretty familiar with that area!

Sorry to hear it. Heard heroin is pretty hot there now.

I'm south of Roch. But I'm a roadie who mostly does nordic these days.

Go find some glens/gully to explore ....

Grimes Glen is tame, but a good way to stay cool on a hot day
    Conklin's gully looks pretty cool
Been meaning to hit up Clark's gully which I've read can be challenging (and it has some great views at the top)

Can hit all three of those in one day

Eh not that I've seen, and certainly no more than anywhere else in upstate/central NY.

I bought a cross bike last winter I was hoping to use where I was living last year...alas now I've been riding almost all roads. Great back roads here now wishing I had a road specific bike!

Geneva seems to have a lot of new restaurants/breweries/etc and just got a $10 million grant from the state. Drive along any of the Finger Lakes and with all the wineries, distilleries, and micro brews it looks like this area is on the upswing.

You've got a cross bike ... that's good news. Awesome quiet dirt/pavement roads in the Naples area. I did two of the three races in this series this spring and can't think of a better way to spend a day on a bike.

Also check out the area around Lewis Rd/Pine Hill Rd directly south of Naples. Was there last Sunday and the HUGE windmills at the top made the climb worth it.

... and Geneva has a big heroin problem ...

2nd... was going to say that, too. It's in Trumansburg.

Another old favorite near there is The Pines. Get the Pines Burger.

EDIT: Just saw you went to school there, so you probably knew this? Anyhow, tons of great biking, sailing, etc.

I grew up there (in Corning) and spent many, many summer days messing around on Keuka. There are tons of really cool gullies on the east side of the lake that you can explore by hiking right up the gut. We used to rappel down the water falls, and spend hours hiking around and getting lost. No real trails that I remember, but it was fun nonetheless.

no shit, youth mispent tripping balls and wandering through gorges all day, the haunt and the rongovian embassy, riding bikes through the tunnels at the atom smasher, underage and in the bars all the time, drooling over naked hippie chicks at the reservoir, a place full of over educated wack jobs, beat up old volvos who didn't have one growing up, sitting in some lab room surrounded by millions of files in plastic boxes while a world renowned expert on malthusian theory explains life to a teenager, getting busted on every weekend by cops, trying to score cornell kind bud as a kid, just did a nice 80 mile road ride there a couple weeks ago, fucking hills are pretty nice, can't get them outa my mind, the place did damage to my thought process but magical it is

Heard the Ithaca Brewery is blowing up. Food/live music etc. No longer a hole in the wall to drink unlimited beer "tastings" and get growlers filled.

Antlers is another good grub spot between Ithaca and the "mountain" of Greek Peak. Man a Pine Burger....damn delicious.

Dino BBQ up in Cuse is worth the drive if your looking for good wings/shrimp/sweet bikes.

If you are near Geneseo, there's a great waterfall south of town, I believe it's Fall Brooks falls. Fun little hike down there
Hot laps for 1000' vert at Bristol are a good way to train for that trip west!

Just road the course near Honeoye on Saturday. Awesome ride!

I saw a bunch of people at Harriet Hollister Spencer w mountain bikes. I rode a few miles on my cross bike...seems like a pretty rad area! Are there any spots in that vicinity one can ski tour?
