Last week, I drove to WY for tix. I recouped $14 ....Well, I invested more than that. Now, I need to decide whether I should drive to WY. again, or just wait until the next time that I go to cash in the tix.

And the odds don’t appreciably change I’d you buy one ticket vs 1000 or whatever. The denominator is astronomically huge

This probably doesn't need to be confirmed, but to no one's surprise, there isn't any difference in likelihood to win based on whether you pick your own numbers or use quick pick. Powerball.com's FAQ before they updated their website addressed htis directly.

    https://web.archive.org/web/20050204...q.asp#computer

Of the first 59 winners in the Powerball game, there were 41 winners (about 70%) who won using Quick Picks (or Computer Picks or Easy Picks). The remaining 18 winners chose their own numbers. Does this mean that you are more likely to win with a computer pick ticket? Maybe. Seventy percent of Powerball tickets are purchased with computer pick numbers. It may just be that the number of computer-pick winners is comparable to the number of computer-pick purchases.

I'm still waiting to here why group buys of lottery tickets is about as dumb as it gets.

But yeah, game show math is tough too.

Well mainly because after we win it's gonna be hard to track down a guy named "Mazderati", address unknown.
    Other than that it's genius.

Nah I'm kidding, it's gonna be cool when we get the $40 million (or whatever it is) in paypal.

    Agreed.

When you play Quick Pick, you haven't diminished your likelihood of winning. You have however, negated your likelihood of winning without sharing the loot with some other ticketholder.

I was gonna say: I’ll drive to pick up...especially if it’s one of those GIANT checks like Pub Clearinghouse or Happy Gilmore...I always wanted to get one of those!

It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.

I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

Loving the maff wizards saying pick your own numbers.

    In that case, play 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
It’s as probable as any other sequence. Has it won yet?

Yes, still open. Send your money by 5:00 ET tomorrow if you want in.

I just sent an email to everyone whose payment I received. If you did not get an email, I do not have your payment or you are looking in the wrong email account.
