question for contractors/builders
So i have this remodel i did, contractor is leaving me with the punch list. I have everything completed, but this one issue. I have the outside screen door that has a large gap at the bottom. I tried some weather stripping but the gap is too large, about 1.5-2 inch gap. Do i need a new door?
Anyone have any idea what i can screw to the bottom of the door to get rid of this gap? Any suggestions would be very much apprecaited.

What's the door made of? Is it painted? If it's solid and you can screw into it you could just rip a piece of MDF, screw it on, paint it and call it good

you can buy an adjustable door sweep
there are many kinds that will give some ability to close that down
what happened that you can't go back to the sub and ask for a door that fits?

In the order of best to worst fix
1. attach a board to the bottom of the door & paint
2. taller sill plate
3. larger door sweepI've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.

Is this commercial or residential?
I'm confused. You say it's an outside screen door, but I don't see any screen. The are plenty of door sweeps and you can screw to the inside face, but 1 1/2" to 2" is a lot of space to fill.
I'd rehang the screen door if possible; sound like it was mounted too high."Can't vouch for him, though he seems normal via email."

Ah...and you can't install a taller threshold (incorrectly referred to as a "sill plate") because the exterior door would not be able to close. Also, it would be a trip hazard.

Agreed, but I was answering OP's question. The door sweep and drip rail can likely be positioned to hide the seam just fine man. And yes, I should have called it a threshold. I live in the world of metal doors installed on concrete slabs, so threshold and sill plate are used interchangeably as they're often one assembly.
And the exterior door could be trimmed to accommodate a taller threshold, but that's really throwing the baby out with the bathwater.I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.

Wow. That's crazy. What happened to measure twice and cut once?
If you went with the screw on addition you could use a kick plate to hide the seam although that might be a bit of "mule in horse harness" for that door.“When you see something that is not right, not just, not fair, you have a moral obligation to say something. To do something." Rep. John Lewis

I'm thinking thats a pre-existing door and so you could replace it which would cost YOU money OR screw something at the bottom
I would wander around the building supply store till I seen something that would work

fuck. I'd rip a piece of PVC and join it to the bottom of the door and agree with DJSapp to cover the seam with drip rail and door sweep. Also, prime and paint the edge of the main door ASAP. It's just sucking up moisture as bare wood.
