Meh. Could have been a little more clever.

Although I doubt it was planned, I actually thought his little skirmish in game 5 was a good thing, especially after the Dubs let themselves get pushed around in game 4.

Kudos to geo039! Thanks for promptly settling.

TahoeJ - parade and trolling were hilarious and bets are paid. Feel free to start next year's thread. Lots of off-season action ramping up...

Paul George or Jimmy Butler? Those guys aren't beating LeBron.

Edit to add. According to Twitter they have 20 million in cap space but obviously they can figure that part out.

They have players with non-guaranteed contracts they can renounce. They're effectively within $1 million of max cap space. They can trade for an all star, sign max contract player and probably still hold onto the Nets pick in next years draft.

If they add Hayward or Griffin as well as Butler or George they are a real threat to the Cavs. If they end up with Hayward and George they'll have enough shooting to even scare Golden State a bit. Although wouldn't a starting lineup that contains IT-Bradley-Hayward-George-Horford just be a poor man's version of Curry-Thompson-Iguodala-Durant-Green?

    Very interesting stuff for sure.

But until LeeeeBron is out of the East I wouldn't count on anything.

Nope. But Fultz, Simmons, Embid can beat LeBron in three years when the window opens back up again.

    It's not a win-now move. It's a win in three years move.

    2016-17 NBA Thread

Simmons and fultz have combined for 0 NBA minutes and now they're competing with the cavs in a few years? The rest of the 6ers first rounders over the last 10 years have done so well we can assume fultz and Simmons will be kyrie/griffin and not Anthony Bennett/Kwame brown?

Edit to include Nerlens Noel who they didn't actually draft

the lakers are willing to trade their number 2 pick - they don't seem that enamored with lonzo. his first work out was summarized as out of shape. the kid from kentucky looks like a keeper - De Aaron Fox

    It's not a win-now move. It's a win in three years move.
This is such a massive leap. It ignores the fact that 2 of the 3 will almost certainly never be average 3 point shooters during a time in which a team needs 3 point shooting to be competitive. It basically assumes at least one of those players is of hall of fame quality and the others become stars. That's what it takes to win a championship. Remember Shaq, Hardaway and Anderson in Orlando? They made it to the finals once and got crushed. What are the odds that Fultz, Simmons and Embid are as good as Shaq, Hardaway and Anderson? 5%?

Will they be as good as Westbrook, Harden and Durant? There is no way in hell. Those three came close, but where is OKC now?

Remeber Run-TMC in Golden State? Hoping that Fultz, Simmons and Embid are as good as Mullin, Hardaway and Richmond is more reasonable. Those three won less than half their games and 2 playoff series during their years together.

It may be fun for Philly fans to assume their team will be dominant for years to come, but it's a deludedly optimistic assumption that this is somehow likely to happen.

Philly fans are right to be excited. But it's still a long road for them.

Would have liked to get more for that pick, but if Fultz was not Danny's #1, then I can't blame him for putting himself in position to pick the guy he wants AND get another good pick.
