So the Cars are looking at possible trades for Jimmy Butler or Paul George and they go and cut ties with their GM. Maybe LBJ in line for Player/GM/Assistant Coach role?

This move baffles me. Stupid decision by Dan Gilbert.

I don't know, LBJ gave Griff a bigtime shoutout on the twatter (someone showed it to me) when the news broke yesterday saying he appreciated him and all of CLE should have too.

This one reeks of stupid from Gilbert.

And, LeBron's wife reportedly wants to live in LA full time. Strange (he said, facetiously...)

Gilbert really fucked Griff dragging this out till all the other GM jobs have been filled. He was sought after too.

Who knows, maybe it was a poker game and Gilbert had all the Aces when Griff called him.

You're the Cavs, is your best option to trade Love and some future picks to try to get Paul George for a one-year rental (and hope he and LeBron come back)?

Or, do you consider the nuclear option: you trade LeBron while you have him under contract and get a raft of talent and/or picks instead of letting him walk next year?

Trade Lebron. He's too inconsistent and his best years are probably behind him.

Seems like that would fuck Gilbert more. Griff gets paid either way and Gilbert now has no bench of GMs to choose from. I suspect LB trying to keep his fingers clean.

Lol at the first part. As for the second part I suspect LeBron will play at a very high level then fall off a cliff and retire suddenly. Kind of like Kobe should have.

Maybe, except now Griff has to sit out a year with no jobs open. Chauncey Billups as the new GM, what?

I don't think LBJ had anything to do with this one.

Then again they fired Blatt - one of the winningest coaches in the league at that point last year and went on to win a championship, so if it works out in the end no one is going to remember this.

Sometimes with these things, I relate it to the non-sports world.

So as the GM he sends his team to the finals three years and wins one.

    And he gets fired?

    And Mike brown as well...twice!

Like I said Griff gets paid sitting or not. In this scenario, Gilbert has to pay the full share for at least a year until someone else picks him up. Good.

I mean, maybe we're talking semantics here. I beat out 26 other suppliers for some major contracts, and it's down to us and another company 3 years in a row, and I/we get the account one of those years, that's pretty good, so when my contract is up, I re-sign with a raise, probably.

I think riser3 was facetiously replying to my semi-trolling post about trading LBJ "to get value now."

J - you wanna go ahead and start the 17-18 thread?
