52 years without a title vs. 04 Sox whenPatriots won the SB in 01, 03, 04. I think CLE needed this one a little more.

I too thought that Gilbert should have worn a Comic Sans shirt today.

So many cool photos from today. And I'm not the biggest LeeeBron fan but I thought his speech was great. Thanked every teammate one by one and told some good stories about how they made this happen.

I didn't mean other sports teams so much as economic success and outlook. Boston has been thriving while Cleveland has gone through a rough stretch. So I think I could see that playing into it as well. Anyway, I may be salty about the loss but still happy for you and your fellow Cavs fans.

Proof Lebron is a choke artist.

...how did no one die from falling off those buildings? They had to be smashed, right?

I asked people who went and they said it looked like a rock climbing convention came to town with the places that so many people managed to get themselves up to catch a better view. I guess alcohol was not sold per-se but every restaurant and bar had girls with beer tubs working the patios. People had to be smashed.

Quick google of people falling only came up with one: the plastic roof of a bus stop shelter collapsing when a bunch of people were on it - no injuries. /shrug.

He's not choking, he's just injured.

    Draft tonight!

Will the Celtics keep #3? And how many players will they end up drafting?

I guess that explains why his legs were tired and he couldn't shoot anymore. He has $100 mil and all that.

I want a trade. The Celtics don't need Dunn.

Thunder got better giving up Serge for Oladipo, Ilyasova, and Sabonis. Oladipo is the obvious gem of that trade, I hated that dude watching him play against Michigan. He's a pretty tenacious defender that'll match up well against the guards in the West.

I'm pretty happy with the Piston's pick, they had to take Ellenson when he fell to them. Although backup point guard is the obvious need they did need some size on the front line. Hopefully they find a veteran PG with the decent amount of cap room they have.

I like simmons, but fuck, the Sixers need a guard. They have 4 guys 6-10+ (Simmons, Embid, Okafor and Noel) and nobody to shoot or dribble. Somebody's gotta go.

(I'm also secretly holding out hope that the Sixers are setting themselves up to make the offer of all offers to Westbrook next summer )

There's no such thing, everyone with the cap room (lots of teams) will all be offering the exact same thing.

    2016-17 NBA Thread

With the rising cap almost every team in the league will have cap room or can easily create it with a few simple moves. The only team that can offer Westbrook (and Durant) more $$ than a standard max deal is OKC. The only way to offset that is a team with a huge market appeal for endorsements like LA / NY/ Bay Area / Chicago, etc.

As a Zers fan, I am preparing to be grossly underwhelmed by our FA acquisitions, even though we're sitting on a pile of money.

I'm hoping for Whiteside who has reported interest in the Blazers or even a one year contract with Dwight Howard (don't start--I know the downside). The reality will be a bunch of older washouts combined with younger "raw players with great potential." Being a small market fan does not make for exciting FA seasons.
