    MPC #151: Complementary Colors June 3 - 26

    Complementary colors are pairs of colors which, when combined, cancel each other out. This means that when combined, they produce a grey-scale color like white or black. When placed next to each other, they create the strongest contrast for those particular two colors. Due to this striking color clash, the term opposite colors is often considered more appropriate than "complementary colors". (Wikipedia)

    Find something where the color of the subject is complementary to the background or the rest of the image. Bonus points for colorful images that emphasize the color contrast, but don't over saturate!

    There are a couple different interpretations and color wheels that explain this, so the colors don't have to be 180 deg across the wheel, but they should be as far away from each other as possible.

    The first time I tried this, finding a red stop sign against green foliage was a good start.

    Orange -> Blue

    Red -> Green

    I know this last one is cheating a little because it isn't autumn anywhere, but you get the idea.

    I figured we can run this through the 25th which will give us enough time to vote and get another one going before the next holiday weekend.

    RULES:

    1. Photos must be taken within the time period of the contest.
    2. You may submit 3 photos during the competition.
    3. The contest moderator will choose 5 (or 6) photos to be voted on.
    4. The winner will get a happy feeling in his/her pants. (That is a rule by the way, not an option.)
    5. In the event of a tie, the contest moderator will have the deciding vote.
    6. Winner will be the contest starter/moderator for the next comp.
    7. The winner has 3 days to start a new contest or 2nd place becomes the new winner.
    8. And have fun.

    Seward, Alaska. Several neat turn of the century buildings in a town with a lot of history.

    Pretty sure it would be pretty late for fall foliage down there. Isn't June in the south like December up here?

    Perhaps, but it's still fall until June 21st.

    Aim for the chopping block. If you aim for the wood, you will have nothing. Aim past the wood, aim through the wood.

    I have yet to see one of those groups of Porsches that have been wandering around N Vermont this weekend .

    Went kayaking on the Ohanepecosh near MRNP, the sun came out Sunday for the drive home and I was treated with the typical jaw dropping views along WA 123 and WA 410 over the pass.
